$500- 68 charger

Do you have all your front suspension bushings ect?

Looks great. You've come a long way. The hammertone on the cage works great we've done several, even with the foam brush. Touches up easy as well.

Thanks Doug, I've come a long way with a lot of help from great guys like you on this site. What kind and color of hammertone paint did you use?
I wanted red hammertone which seems hard to find, the only place that I could find for red was Home Depot. The can said "bright red", but the test piece of roll bar I did came out maroon and is not hammered. So I'm going to try this "apple red" regular gloss or maybe some oil based brush on red. I'm hoping to buy some nice looking black vinyl or nylon jacketed roll bar pads so a lot of the red bars won't show much.
I also found some self fusing tape for the wiring harness and about to start refurbing it.

I am now thinking about applying (with a roller and brush) some truck bed liner black paint in the trunk instead of the speckle paint. What do you guys think about that idea? I'll have some type of floor mat, black rubber or astro turf (maybe red & black), covering the floor also.

Be careful of splatter with a roller, don't want it on that nice paint!

After quite a few tests with different paints and coatings for the trunk that weren't what I wanted I finally found something that work very good. Not really the color/s I wanted but, believe it or not it is the stuff they advertise on tv with that annoying guy, Flex-seal., lol.. I did the insides of the quarters and around the edges but not so much on the floor. If you spray it lightly it makes a textured surface/finish. I also may have come up with a good fix for something that has bugged me. The gap in the sides of the trunk floor where the floor extensions drop down and connect to the quarter, made me worry about dropping stuff/tools/parts down there. I sliced a piece of a/c line insulator/armaflex and it then fit in the gap perfect enough to keep stuff out and it has a sticky strip to stay in place. May spray a little of the flex-seal over it also.

That is a good idea. I've often worried that my fit was very poor until I saw others. I've been thinking of doing something similar.

Awesome!

I am missing an air chisel which either went down my extension or is in the rocker / quarter gap lol.

Lol, not to worry, the gap is normal, every mopar b body I've owned had about 1" gaps there from the factory. If you close the gap up like I did or similar, be sure not to seal it airtight, I'm thinking if it was sealed tight it might hold moisture there.

I put the tail lights on but not the trim that goes around them. Most of the trim was ok after cleaning but some of the pieces around the tail lights were a little too crusty to use, I'll buy some new ones later.

I mounted the rear bumper, but not the bumperettes yet, may not ever put them on, haven't decided.. It fits ok, could be a little better but I'm sure I'll have to take it back off for something, like the tag light, etc..

Installed the ss window track roof rails with some new home depot weather strip sticky back foam underneath, better than the factory stuff. Started putting on the roof drip rail trim then realized the lower quarter piece goes under the top, so will wait till after installing quarter window glass and etc. Changed my mind again about the roll bar color again, 5th time, decided against red and going with gloss oil based brush on. Will be doing a test piece/bar soon, fingers crossed, getting tired of messing with it.

I didn't like that gap either . . . so I extended the floor, cut out the trunk extensions, and welded the floor directly to the quarter panel . . . I'm very much happier with the result . . .

Your idea is a great way to do it ( nice and simple too ) . . .

Fitment . . .

Welded in place . . .

Underneath . . . trunk extenders cut out and in primer . . .

And primer inside the trunk

Looking good, I have to agree blocking off those extensions are a must... crap collectors!

Money came out of mine when I cut out the quarters. 52 cents!

David
Lucky you, mine was full of sand, dirt, wrappers, toys and rust thanks to all the crap holding moisture lol. Somethings make you wonder about the R&D where a simple piece of foam or sheetmetal could save it from premature rust.

I cleaned up the old kick panels and will paint them black with some paint made for vinyl/plastic.
I'm wondering if there is some way I could save/refurb/recover the old inner quarter window trim pads, new ones are kinda pricey.
