I don't understand why these people thinks there stuff is worth so much. I have a 62 Fury and don't really need any parts but am always looking for a good deal on spare or better conditioned parts. Old doesn't equate to being worth more. There may not be many 62 parts on the market but guess what there are not that many people looking for them either. Hold to your gold ebay sellers because every day they become worth less and less. One jack *** has been posting a trunk emblem buy it now for $449. Guess what after 2 years no one has bought it. Why because your an idiot. You could spend a million dollars on a 62 but guess what it wont be worth a million when you go to sell it. Plus more and more people are into restomods. Who thinks its a good idea to keep a single master cylinder and drum brakes, no one. Your rusty old part is less than worthless you to have to pay to dispose of your junk. So people are smart enough to pass. 62 although has it admirers it not the car to own. 66-73 is whats hot right now. so Greddy ebay sellers hold on to parts your kids will trash them when your dead.

Learn to spell, before calling people stupid. Also....It must suck to be so worked-up about someone having something, that you can't locate or afford to purchase.

As i said in my post i have a complete car. Its rotisserie restoration one family car garage kept in my grandmas garage for 50 years and restored 100% myself. I need nothing but still like to look. Plus i know plenty of honest guys who sell parts at the right price like Joe Suchey. You must be one of those guys that sells on EBAY i guess. and thanks for being so concerned about my spelling.

Oh, I'm so hurt.....and you still can't assemble a sentence.

I guess the OP doesn't understand the parts business. :( There are generally two types of ebay sellers. One is the guy who has some spare parts he wants to get rid of, and the second is the professional parts seller. The first group usually lists parts at a price they know they'll move at because they want them sold and gone as quickly as possible. The professional seller cares more about price than speed, and he/she is fine with letting a part sit for years if it means when the time comes that somebody absolutely needs that part, and needs it right now, and will pay whatever price is asked to get it, they get the deal.

There's been a guy selling a rechromed 73/74 front bumper on ebay for five years. I offered him $200 back in 2012, and they're still holding out for $599 or whatever price it is they want now. I think it was $399 back then.

A lot of this goes back to the heydays of restorations where there was a huge demand for parts, and restorers doing work for clients with deep pockets would pony up whatever price was asked for parts they needed to get a project done, but those days are coming to a close, which may, or may not, end up being a good thing for us. I just took a load of old C body parts to the dump a couple of weeks ago as even at bargain prices no one was buying them, so the less people want to pay, the fewer parts there likely will be.

I agree with Mr B as he is in the know about these things. I recently bought a lower dash pad from someone who was selling as a business. That part was expensive but it was near perfect condition and i needed it.

If you could, post some pictures Id like to see your car as I'm sure others would also and dont worry about your spelling or grammar, its fine.

You're the person that should be concerned. You wanna piss and moan about people who have 50-60 year-old parts, that you supposedly don't want. Plus, you do it at a 7th grade level. LOL
I've also been throwing stuff away. People want it for nothing, and won't pay actual shipping. Better off, in the landfill.

Well, at the end of the day, the beauty of ebay is it's usually awash in competition. :) I can go on there today and find a part for $500 or $20. As I wrote on my Pittsbird post, the secret to successful use of ebay is to do searches using "Newly Listed" as the sort selection. If you use the "Best Match" default sort, the best deals are long gone and you never see them.

Like Bruzilla said there are parts out there if your patient and sort for newly listed. In the past i have gladly paid reasonable prices. I took two trips last year. I drove 1200 miles to Carlisle and took a trip to West Virginia to get parts from Benny Buckner. I need one part and i have posted it before. It's called retainer folding top header weatherstrip. Part #2251899 . It fits both the 1962 dodge & plymouth convertible ( year only). I have been told by Joe its not out there for any price but i look anyway.

I just paid 16 bucks for 10 tiny little clips for my 63 ply that nobody had...hours of searching, phone calls, swap meets etc. Some stuff is hard to find and there's some car rebuilder out there that's going to need it. I also tossed away money getting clips that "should have fit" (probably made in a sweat shop somewhere) but didn't so have a collection of 50 clips I don't need. The market is like the wild west regardless of the vehicle. Yeah some will try to squeeze every buck they can and that's their choice and theirs to never sell it too. I'd just say as one who buys and sells on ebay sometimes, they should do research on what it might be worth if this info can be found, and price accordingly. Smart buyers will do this research anyway..

What's driving me NUTS is I quit selling on ebay because I was tired of having to ship stuff. I listed what parts I still want to get rid of on Craigslist, and what happens? I hear from a guy in Las Vegas who wants the carb I'm selling, a guy in Ohio who wants the clutch fan, and a guy in Wisconsin who wants the oil pan! No locals, all out-of-state buyers. :(

I just chuckle and move on but people will pay stupid money for that one part they need.

sell the mopar and go buy a chevy
if you want cheap parts...

I've sold a couple items on C-list but all the stories of getting robbed or worse are hard to blow off. Now when I've done this I NEVER have the interested party or buyer 1. come to my house and 2. only make the view/transaction in a public place like local often busy gas station near my place with surveillance cameras. And if I'm buying I ask for the same sort of deal. Very simple but amazed people still get ripped off!

On Cl I seem to get every deceased Nigerians nephew wanting to pay me 10x my asking price...didnt know Mopars were so popular in Africa....

I have purchased a few things on Ebay, also I have listed (very reasonably priced) vehicles and all I get is low ball offers from bottom fishers, probably resellers. But when I had to junk my (cracked) ex race 440 block, I listed all the parts on Racingjunk and C/L.....sold everything. Half of them were purchased by east coast buyers and were shipped, another bunch were sold to guys in Las Vegas, which I personally delivered. All parts were sold at very reasonable prices and no returns or complaints.

FWI i appreciate the input and you sound like a good guy. I think your right about the resellers. When i go to buy something most of the time i wont dicker over the price either i will pay it or move on. I spent over $1000 dollars getting my stainless steel trim and belt moldings in order. Its not about the price its about trying to gouge people. Those are the same guys who go to hurricane devastated areas and think its ok to sell water $5 a bottle. I sleep good at night. I have worked for the fire department for 23 years and i know one thing when all a guy has to say is you used poor grammar he already lost his argument. I not need two speel soo good or grammer to be wright.

Comparing low lifes that gouge people after a disaster to a guy trying to make a buck selling used car parts is like comparing apples and o...spaceships....neither have anything to do with each other.
One is a necessity for living the other is a hobby! Value is in the haves and have not's or in the eye if the beholder....
Ask yourself if you were to put a price on your 62 and I wanted it but for 1/2 the price you were asking, are you now the jackass idiot???
Food for thought!
