I'm having electrical issues with my 68 Charger so therefore I'm in search for a good place in Atlanta,Ga that specializes in electrical work.
 
I'm in the Atlanta area, and I have a 68 conv. B Body.
What electrical issues are you having?
Many on this forum can help diagnose.
I'm near Kennesaw, and know a guy that does good honest work.
But 90% is diagnosis, the fix is usually fairly easy.

But 90% is diagnosis, the fix is usually fairly easy.
I just installed new dash and engine harness wires, new gauges, printed circuit board etc but fuel gauge hand going all the way to the right and oil gauge not working. Me and my pops checked to see if it's a ground issue but kept coming up blank...I've replaced everything from gauges, wires, sending unit, voltage limiter lol everything
 
I've had to replace 2 circuit boards and 2 temp gauges due to them burning out
 
The only part of your cluster that runs on the 5 volts is the Fuel gauge, temp gauge oil pressure gauges. Sounds like you may be getting more than the 5 volts to the fuel gauge if its pegged out. If so then i would check the pins at the pcb and make sure they are not loose. Mine had a loose pin and that caused intermittent problems.

Do he work out of a shop and what side of town can he be located?
 
The only part of your cluster that runs on the 5 volts is the Fuel gauge and the temp gauge. Sounds like you may be getting more than the 5 volts to the fuel gauge if its pegged out. Do you have a rally dash? If so then i would check the pins at the pcb and make sure they are not loose. Mine had a loose pin and that caused intermittent problems.
Yeah I have a rally dash and yep that's exactly what it's doing to the fuel gauge but oil gauge not moving...I've fried to temp gauges due and 1 circuit board die to this and now just frustrated lol.

Take the temp gauge out. Get 2 double A Batteries but them end to end with wires attached at each end and put them on the temp gauge. NOT IN THE CLUSTER. It should slowly move up. with that being 3 volts. The gauge should stop about half way. Fuill 5 volts gets the temp gauge to peg out.

Also with that board diagram above you should be able to test voltages at the 12volt and the 5 volt areas.

Not trying to be a smartass but did you check the gauges when the car was running for the oil pressure? Car not running you will have 0 oil pressure hence the gauge will not work. Also the temp gauge will not show a temp.

Just so you know. It is very possible to install the voltage limiter backwards. So do not ask me how I know. But if you choose to ask me. I fried a cluster due to putting the limiter in backwards.

The car was running while checking for the oil pressure. The gray wire that connects to the brand new oil switch is getting power because the hand moved when we sent power to it but once we connected it to the switch we got nothing.

I've replaced the voltage limiter with one that looks identical but is a newer design and very accurate; also took an eraser to the circuit board which hadn't been touched in 50 years. I fixed all my gauges by reading this forum and I am an M.D. by day not a mechanic. Caveat is I also build tube amps for guitar so electrical doesn't scare me.
My friend lives in Powder Springs - Full Moon Garage on facebook or ?. He definitely will NOT rip you off. Having been completely ripped off by huge losers in the past, I now do everything I possibly can on my cars by necessity.

Your options are:
1. go to the other forum members house
2. pm me and I'll get in touch with Brad, who owns Full Moon Garage in Powder Springs. You also might want to read Mad Electrical's web site regarding how to avoid fire in the future. Don't ask me how I know...

This does not make sense. The wire coming from the gauge is only grounded by the sending unit. Full ground should peg the gauge high and not connected should have the gauge bottomed out. sending power to any part of the grounding side is not good.....

I did too until I put it in backwards and smoked my pcb. This was the result of chaging it while being a member of cirque du soleil and contorting to unusual shapes trying to see the damn thing from the bottom.

lol funny how we easily give up the information on how we screw up. Most guys would never admit to it. :)

Ok maybe I'm stupid but supplying 12v to the sender is not a good thing. The senders act as a rheostat. They only measure resistance or a heated coil and more voltage lets it open more and it should only be 5 volts to and from the sender. NEVER 12 volts. This is why putting 2 1.5 volt double A batteries in series will supply it with 3 volts and make it read up to about half way. If you put 12 volts to any portion of the 5 volt side its pretty logical that you smoke instruments.

I fixed one gauge at a time and it went pretty well. Actually, my car had a fire in the bulkhead before I owned it. Bulkhead wires were all melted together but the thing still ran. So he covered the bulkhead in bondo and painted right over it, like a big clump of clay stuck to the firewall. Just a 'small detail' the previous owner left out when selling online...
So the entire car has been re-wired headlights to tail lights since I bought it. All original gauges work, it was fun to see them work again for the first time in probably several years.
