The Dorman/Help headlamp adjusting screws (#42189) for my '72 SSP are a joke. There are three discrepancies which forced me to use the factory screws over again, although the plastic "nuts" were usable and actually that is all I needed to get things back together:
a) wrong length (this may or may not be a problem?)
b) The slot is way too small for the headlamp bucket tab to slide into (I tried)
c) The 45 degree chamfer is in the wrong place, pointing down toward the threads of the screw rather than up toward the slot. Can you believe it?
P.S. Made in China, thank you very much.

Yeah I can believe it..
I have a growing pile of repop junk
That will hit the Dumpster one day.
I wouldn't abuse someone else with it
Trying to sell it off.
I have learned that
you gotta ask around before you take a plunge.
What you encountered is why I tumble
And replate my original hardware

Ditto brother.... Been stung a few times, repro is crap ! Fan shroud wrong size but right part number, anyone want a remote mirror repro brand new ? Even the NOS R/T emblems where reprod crap! Still had sanding marks chromed!

Bought repro headlamp bezel screws for 68 Coronet wrong size ! Ended buying used screws on ebay for double what i laid out for repros, but im happy that i scored some , out of Texas.

Don't trust anything Dorman! I have no clue who makes the parts but they need to recalculate there measuring tools. I purchased Dorman trans lines from a well known parts supplier that offers many different options. They were for our 06 Grand Prix, well the measurements, lengths and so on were all wrong. It was not just something like damage from shipping it was just off.
The company I purchased them from were great, refunded my money + shipping but I will never get anything with Dorman's name attached to it again.

I wouldn't dignify Dorman as repo. It's fits all or nothing.

Well, I really don't want to hijack the thread, but my experience with Dorman window regulators and lock actuators are very good on my Blue Oval cars. The Dorman replacements are actually BETTER than the Motorcraft for the window regulators. Dorman replaces the cheap nylon cable mounts with a solid aluminum piece revited in and I have yet to have one fail.

Perhaps I have found the 'exception to the rule'?

I second this post! I have a 2005 F150 and 3 out of 4 Motorcrap regulators have failed. The Dorman are quality products.

Well that's great news for Fords!!!

Meanwhile, back in the MoPar world.....
