426 Wedge blocks

Need pics and additional info to determine if it is a max wedge block. I think street wedge and max wedge both used same casting numbers. And all had the AAQA stamped. If there's no heads on it I think the tops of the cylinders had been clearanced for valves, alsonshould have a unique stamping on the ID pad..

I'm not Max Wedge expert, but I believe 1967Coronet440 is right about the block being clearance for Max Wedge valves. I think that machining is right at the top of the cylinder bore. Don't quote me on this.

I believe they were often referred to as "eyebrows" also had special fonts used on some casting numbers? There's wasn't much to differentiate the 2 you really had to know what to look for

Here's a picture of my 426 block and rods. The exhaust valves were 1.88 " so the blocks were notched for clearance. Also some info from Greg Lane.
 
Define hard to come by and post a picture of the pad.
 
drag race blocks had a notch at the top of the cylinder for the exhaust valve. no notch=street block. also, the drag race blocks used 1/2" pick-ups.

I have since determined that these are marine 426 wedge engines, so not a max wedge but the same stuff without valve notches. Complete short blocks for sale
