I'm building a 1970 Super Bee tribute car. Non numbers matching, just a nice driver built the way we would have ordered one back in the day.
Here's my question: we're putting in a very mild 440; magnum cam, headers and duals, dual plane intake. 727 auto. I have a OEM Holly carb that came originally on a 1970 'Cuda Grande Coupe, 383 automatic. It is complete, unmolested, with all linkages etc. My plan is to send it back to Holly Custom Shop for rebuild. Will this be an appropriate carb for my application and will the linkages fit a B body? I'm in the Arctic. I can't just go to a non existent local junk yard, and bringing in different stuff means grievous postage costs.

Take off eh' you hoser!

Sorry that's the only Canadian I know.

I'm guessing a factory Holley for a 383 would be a 600 cfm carburetor. That's a little small for a warmed over 440 but if you are not necessarily looking for maximum performance, it should power it OK. I believe the Carters that Chrysler generally installed on the 440 were around 750 cfm.

Well Sahara I'm running a 340 size AVS carb right now that I thought was a 440 carb when I picked it up years ago; it's "getting old in the tooth" but it works surprisingly well. I'm thinking of going to 750-780cfm, but what you have should work well. My 440 is completely stock.

How well are your heads breathing? Stock or aftermarket?
So back in the day some stuck a 440 carb on a 383 for a quick boost, you're doing the reverse.
Don't forget the electric choke . . .

I was wondering about that. I may be further ahead selling this to someone restoring a '70 'Cuda Gran Coupe.
Anyone have any idea what it's worth? It's a complete carb, manifold and linkage, all unbuggered but in need of rebuild.

"Ice Road Truckers", lol. Love that show.

What's neat about here is that cars don't really rust here. The weather is so extreme that they didn't use salt back in the day. It's either hot or very cold; too cold for salt to work. And the air is very dry, low humidity. So any old cars you an find here are generally pristine. Chrome and trim can be perfect, even on 50 plus year old cars.
Until very recently there was a beater 440 Superbird still on the streets in Yellowknife.
Because our population is so small you bump into reality show stars all of the time; getting groceries, fishing, going to the movies.
The grand daughter of Buffalo Joe from Ice Pilots was my summer student one year. Her mom is married to one of my childhood friends and neighbors. One of the stars of Yukon Gold is my best friends cousin. Alex from Ice Road Truckers is a local legend apart from being in the show. Both Buffalo Joe And Ice Road Alex have huge stashes of cool old stuff, including cars.

I think they run starting around 100-150 on up. If it wasn't a Gran Coupe, a N96 Holley probably worth more.
Side note: If its from a Gran Coupe, would it have been a 330hp with a Carter?

I’d advise spending that money to restore it on a better carb. 570cfm, and those OEM Holleys were pain in the rear when they were new.
