Killed the tree this weekend..

So I need a refresher, I havent been on a track since the late 80s....now if I remeber right 60' lights are beams just like staging lights....which if doing a massive bumper dragging wheel stand wouldnt the back tires be the ones tripping the timer??? So lets say on a 1.19 60, what woul be the time if wheels were down???? 1.00 60???

Come see my pics on Facebook.
NENDRA GUYS are great.
SSR runners up, and with .009, .016, .019 lights.
Red lit in the finals. He told me to tell everyone hello, he misses everyone.

i tried looking you guys up online,to see what the fuss was all about.
the fb app doesnt allow any access,so,i never got to see pics or video of this guy at the track.
im kinda surprised at the secrecy aspect of a drag racing website??
could you please post the pics here,or a direct link?
thanks.

A car clocking 1.00 at the 60' mark, it's gonna be running around 7.20 in the 1/4 mile so the difference in the rear wheels tripping it would probably be more like around .05 difference....maybe less.

I was just goin with it...estimated on the curve....figured if the wasted upward torque was replaced with forward positive motion it would be worth at least .1 :D
Nothing I ever raced had enough to pull the wheels:)

I've never raced at a track.
Building a 63 Max wedge clone Polara

BUT: If all racers are as angry as Super Stock Racer, I'm not sure I'd want to be around that.

I know Mike Gaines is a "good guy"
As is Hemi Itis.

dont worry Ski,most racers are nothing like that.
trust me,when you get started they will welcome you and help you dial your ride in as well.
after awhile, itll feel like a second family to you.

...thanks BeatersRus!
Good to know!
Yeah I have to agree with BeaterRus,
most or a very large %'s of the drag racing community
are stand up & great people, very helpful...

They'd usually all give the shirt off their backs & parts out of their bins,
many things, if they could help...
At least most that I was hanging around...

On a side note,

Chris Baum (& his many/multiple aliases} on various Mopar Boards/Forums
SuperStockRacer, W8Avenger, Quicknicks, Tracer1,
Hemicuda1, KellyPickles, Jackson
{I've just been made aware of 2 more Tennispug & Browneye}
& those are just the ones I've seen myself...
Check him out on FBBO, FABO, YellowBullet, Moparts, 62to65Mopar.or.nocar etc.
Check them out, do a quick search & judge for yourself...

And don't worry about messing up your first full on pass. Keep in mind that everyone there had to make theirs at one time or another and yeah, we all got our turn laughing :D. I can remember my first fast car....one that was actually faster than 13's. It was a buddies 10.70 stick car and I wasn't expecting the hit and my dog gone head about fell into the back seat! I bet that looked real good lol. At least we were there very early and the weather had been bad most of the day but it cleared up good enough to open the track. Not that many people were there thinking there would be no racing so very few saw that....thank goodness!

Remember my first pass in 69 Camaro 400ci. Almost lost it into the wall I was so surprised. That thing had over 500 ponies. I borrowed it from a friend. Had no idea. he said," Sure...go ahead and have pass with it." Bastard.

Budnicks; Excellent observations and information on the whys and how-comes of wheel standing on drag racing cars. As was said, you're not trying to launch rocket ships (which go up); any motion that isn't straight forward is wasted motion and slower times. The Pro-Stock cars are probably the best example of how to 60 foot. As for the video of the Stock or Super Stock cars, please re-read Budnick's article. I'm with you on this one, Bud...

Drag racing to win is as @Budnicks points out, all about forward momentum, not lifting the wheels off the ground for great distances. All that does is allow the clock to tick away without much ground being made.
Unless of course you have a crowd-pleaser vehicle like Bill Maverick's LRW, wheelie's are just for showing off....much like wearing budgie-smugglers at the beach.:D

I know which one I prefer to watch.

The fast cars seem to me to be hooking up and moving from the git go towards the far end. I mean, not even much of a front wheel lift, just deep torque grunt off the line. Wheelies are for show, not go.

Right, and that's expected.

speaking of expected....
i logged in this am expecting to see a link,or a coupla timeslips posted,
from one or the other of the bobbsey twins mystery crew.
was the racetrack that far away from his computer?
did the pic taker fall off the short pier onna long walk?
will there be an update this week?
enquiring minds wanna know......
