What are these going for today in fair condition? There is one locally that is not in great condition. Trunk floor is covered in some kind of gunk. One brake is sticking, paint is barely ok, interior is fair but needs some work, console is there but not installed, incorrect bucket seats. Has a NOM 440 that runs. It starts and moves but not drivable due to the sticking brake.
Description;
1968 Plymouth GTX. Real GTX RS23L. 440 Auto. Console and buckets. Runs good but needs brake work. Front driver side disc is hanging up. Some trunk rust. Good floors. New door panels. 70 buckets but they are complete with hinge covers. MSD ignition. Non matching motor. Trans has 3500 stall. Fair price for a real GTX that is not rusty and beat. Clear AZ title in my name. Investment opp. forces sale.

This car isn't in New River, is it? If so, PM me.

It is so difficult to value these cars; after my long search, I came to the conclusion that any B Body with Big Block under 30 is far from perfect, and any B Body under 20 is probably near project status. I don't think you would be hurt paying high 20s for this car.
 
Depends on what you want it to be when your done with it. To me it's a 15-20K car. If you just want a driver then it a good buy. If you want a nice finished car your better off buying one already done. It adds up fast. Just try to add up the $ it would take to get it to where you want, add 50% to that,then add it to the price. Compare that to a nice car price and go from there.
For example I spent 5K on grille, trunk panel, bumpers, steering wheel, side trim, & wheel well mouldings. The GTX/Sport Satellite trim stuff is pricey.

I am going to look at it tomorrow if it is not already sold. Decoding the fender tag, it was originally yellow, had power disc brakes, which I dont see a power booster in that engine picture. I would bet it was a drag car at some point in it's past.
 
I'm shocked it hasn't sold yet. Must have skeletons in the closet.
 
I expect to see a wavy body covered in bondo. Anything better will be a surprise. The car has no A/C which is not good for resale in Arizona.

Just finished with the fender tag. It was not a very well optioned car. The fender tag calls for, power disc brakes, console/bucket seats, fender or hood turn signals, driver remote mirror, Am radio, tach, tinted windsheild, body moldings, fender lip moldings, stripe. Thats it. I dont see a power steering pump or power disc brake booster in that engine pic. Holes in the trunk look like a battery was once mounted in there. A drag car?
 
Well, if it runs and drives I still believe it's worth asking price. Lots of $14, 000 project GTX cars out there.
 
Calipers and rotors I'd get price on them just to know. Think they're pricy.
 
You really have to take a CLOSE look at it. Is it a good solid body needing NO METAL work, or is a rotted car full of mud with new paint on it? Big difference in value between the two and a big difference in the amount of work and materials to restore. I've stripped more than one car to find the sins of the past. LOOK CLOSELY and don't let the excitement of owning "Your Dream Car" lead you into a bad decision. Lot's of cars out there. Look closely and make sure what it really is and base the value on that.

Check the junk in the trunk.

It's could be hidden rust, floor looked uneven.
 
Great advice guys, I appreciate your input.

I was planning to see it today, last night I called the owner to verify that I can come to his place today, and he tells me that during the week he accepted a down payment from a person in California, who is driving overnight to come and pick up the car.

So I made other plans for today, and this morning the seller calls and tells me the guy from California backed out and he is not coming, so the car is still for sale.

I guess things like this happen when you're dealing with Private Sales, especially with older cars. So the plan is to call him in the morning, if no one bought it this afternoon, I'll go see it tomorrow.

I have lost deals before because I could not get there quickly. No big deal. Sometimes you have to wonder, is something meant to be? Is it waiting for me? I will find out tomorrow I guess.
 
Two years ago I was on I10 heading to Phoenix from Tucson to look at a 1969 charger. Passing through Casa Grande at 7am I get the call that the charger sold. Guy with trailer and cash from Nevada beat me to it.

Where did it say the asking price was 14K?

If it's not full of bondo or frame issues, 14K is a good price.
 
I'm surprised it didn't sell faster than it did; the asking price was reasonable.
