I greased and lube the window as much as I can to get it to move a free in the track as possible, but the motor is very very slow. Slow enough for my 5 year old to say "the window in your black car goes up super slow, daddy." Thanks. I never noticed :(

Will a new motor speed it up or are the windows on these old Mopars just slow due to gearing?

I'm looking at a Dorman 742-301: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/rnb-742-301

Does anyone have experience with it?

i took apart the window motors in my ramcharger and cleaned them up,
and also clipped the fact wiring by the motor itself and put some new stuff in.
it had a lot of cracks in the insulation.
the difference was Amazing.
windows go up! at lightspeed now.

So... the upgrade to new motors would be worth it. Thanks! I never remembered the windows on this car ever being fast. Of course, the last time I had it on the road, 20 years ago, the window switch only worked part time.

dont assume you need new motors right off the bat.
first, clean those switches, clean those motors, lube up the slides and then retest them.
for a little bit of work, you can save yourself a lot of money And frustration,
esp if you buy new motors install them, and then find out they run half speed too......

Corrosion at the connection s will limit the amps going to the motor witch in return will slow them down. But knowing what I know the motors weren't very good to begin with so I'd say replace and clean up the wireing as you go !

This is a very good point. You might put in new motors & still have 40+ yr old cracked up wiring in there. I also strongly suggest you check/clean all your grounds. Additionally, I've read several people putting in relays so the power doesn't run through the switch (might consider this while you're at it...cheap & not too tough to install).

Be cautious of Dorman motors. I use them in late- model repairs alot, and usually find they are downsized, especially when purchased with a regulator, and almost always operate slower than factory motor does.

The window motors in my 5th Ave parts car have one different bolt hole than the ones in my 74 Charger donor doors. IIRC one of them uses 2 bolts, the other 3, and the one that's different is the one that's not used.

Got the a1electric aftermarkets. The drivers door goes up normal, then slows down midway It's the angle/channel adjustment. If I fool with it, it will be worse. As long as it goes up, don't care.
