Hi...

first what do the three original relays look like behind the glove box? I have one that is fused, the second that makes noise when the battery is connected to the post. the third looks like a modern upgrade.. I think my battery drain is off of the middle one.. is that possible?

would it be best to change all to the newer style of relays?

also, front end ride height.. whats the normal height on the 66 charger? Im sitting at 24" both sides on the front..

almost forgot.. valve guide rubber seals? do you use those on your 383s?

Thank you..

Well let's start with pictures so we can see what your talking about with the relays! Then on your ride hight were are you taking your measurements from ? Be really specific or take a picture of that too would make life easier. And I'm assuming your asking about valve guide seals most people upgrade to the hardened seals so they can run this garbage pump gas and have no pings! What seals are you looking into do you have a part number?

Hi.. Ill get pictures in order and post about the relays.. the motors work but the middle relay clicks when the battery is reconnected.

also front ride height is from the bottom of the tire to the lip of the fender (front)..

as for the seals.. back pressure showing oil puffing out the back.. I was thinking the rubber seals may prevent the oil from going through the valve stems.

Thats whay I am asking.. thank you.

My 70 Barracuda 383 (originally 2 BBL, modified to alum intake & 780 Holley) developed oil consumption issues. I'm sure due to my abusive driving. Took it to the dealer before the 50,000 mile warranty was up, they found the stock valve seals cracked on numerous valves. Oil leaks into the cylinders, down the guides, which I'm sure were shot and the out the exhaust. Two main things result in oil out the exhaust, bad valve seals/guides or bad piston rings.

Hi, 383wing would be the guy to PM about the relays...

On the relays. the ends are open/close and the middle which is different from the other 2 is the main.
Other folks have posted they replaced with a NAPA AR204 which plugs right in.
No need to modify wiring except for adding a ground wire from one of the coil pins.
Plug the single green wire into the other coil pin and you're good to go.
Otherwise I believe A383Wing has solid state one to replace and work great.

I disconnected the green wire off the middle unit for three days and no battery drain.. when plugged in.. headlights rotate fine..

:wtf: is that monstrosity? I would straighten that out, but that is me. Just my 2 cents.
