As the title says I'm looking for good "how to" info to mini tub my '69 RR. Lots of photos, measurements, tips, tricks, etc..

I just installed their spring relo kit.

I honestly don't think the tub kit is worth the money - for a strip of metal with a flange on it. If you have to make one butt weld joint, you may as well do two.

What I'm mainly looking for is patterns for the cut or photos of how people did it.

If you close to me, I'd do it for ya, at least one side and then turn ya loose on the other.

Its not a fear of doing it, its a matter of proper planning so it doesn't take forever and is done with minimal errors.

Any one done this on a car that is already painted? I would dearly love to tub it, but I have decent paint...

To be honest, I'd just be happy with 'de-humping' the current tub, as much as actually mini tubing it.

What do you mean by "de humping"?

All of the mini-tub is done on the inside of the trunk and passenger area or in the wheelwell. As long as it was protected from scratching, etc. there's no work that should affect the exterior paint or bodywork.

There is a hump on the outside of the outer wheel house. A lot of times when tubbing you can remove that hump to get bigger tires under.
I've done mini tubs on a couple of b-body cars. It does take some surgery when doing your own 3'' strip but not to complicated.I can share my photos but I am a jump in head first fabricator.LOL so I don't have any measurements with the pics. But always willing to help with questions.

Here are the rest of the pics I have. This was the first time I had done it. Not as clean as some of the Mini tubs I've seen on here but hopefully it
Helps.
Thanks,Joe

I'm back! I used the US Car Tool kit and rolled a step in the piece to give it a nice flat surface.

Very Clean!! I would have rather done the US car tool kit as well. It wasn't available at the time. The next one I do I will use there kit.I like your results.

Couple questions ...

There is a stamped dimple around the inner tub - did you move that whole piece over or just cut it out?
Did you trim the lip off the frame rails and weld the tubs to the side of the frame rails?
How wide is the step you rolled?
It seems to me that with the car intact it would be a bitch to get at all the spot welds to remove that inner tub.

Yes just cut them out.

Yes trimmed the lip. About 3/8-1/2 lip. If I remember right there's a rolled lip next to where the 2 halves come together, that's where I put my splice.

Depends if you want to save the original inner tub or not. Might be easier to scrap the OEM tub and buy a new one.
