New guy with a project/sleeper. 76 Cordoba

was it a truck big block?
if so,youll need new engine mounts with the correct brackets,
oil pan,oil pan pickup unit and hey exhaust manifolds too.
best bet is to go strip a derby car or beater or rotter for those parts,or make friends w Shumachmer engine mounts.
the trans will work as is,youll also need a Car radiator for a bb.
its well worth putting a bb in those cars tho.

welcome to the b body forum.

I just replaced my U joints on my 77' Cordoba with the 440 and 727. The drive shaft was bad, and fortunately I had a pile of them, and one was Identical. The length from end to end not including he yoke is 52 7/8. That is with the 9 1/4 rear end. The 8 1/4 will be a longer shaft as the differential is shorter. But those things can be shortened by any competent shop. If you don't jump on it, the 8 1/4 will be ok, more or less. I assume you have a 727 in the car now, not a 904. The rules change if you have that. also, the 440 needs it's own transmission, as the 360 small block Transmission is a whole different unit.

Love the blue! They made so many of them with colors that were well...damn ugly
erm...isnt it a Grey cordoba??
sure looks exactly like the grey one i had.

love the front end too, wish they hadnt gone to square headlights later.

i > assumed < lol that the trans in truck was useable in his car.
i might be wrong there, depending on the drivetrain setup.

I agree, some of those truck trannies are not compatible. But any old 727 with the correct convertor will work fine, just need a competent transmission dude!

He was commenting on my car from an earlier post welcoming him.

No....it's a police interceptor that came out of a Fury. It was in a one ton truck for the last 20 years. So I'm hopping I'll just need the mount plates ...maybe a rear end eventually.
Thanks for the info

Single turbo e85 stock block 360 with forged slugs good fasteners and balanced. Be just like Dizusters car

welcome to FBBO nice looking doba put the 440 in and have fun

You might want to consider a 5.9 Magnum.

More torque and HP than all but the 75-78 440 and damn near equal to that.

No motor mount, A/C, torsion bar or transmission issues either, and you'll get a roller cam, molly rings and coated pistons for an easy 160,000+ mile engine

Thanks for the info...the motor comes with a working trans out of the original police cruiser. The rear is a question...it is limited slip which seems odd so it may be strong enough for the new engine????

The 8 1/4 is fairly strong, what is the ratio? The 9'1/4 is great because it comes as a 3:21 suregrip. But Police cars frequently came with tall gears, and the engine was built accordingly. Just don't take it to the strip!

I had one also, bought it new off the showroom floor loaded, red with white leather miss it to this day.
