Does your gas gauge read like mine?

Just curious how many others have the same inaccuracy after all these years. My '72 Satellite Sebring Plus reads 3/4 full when topped off within a couple of inches to the end of the filler tube and with the needle touching the tiny white little box at the empty end it only took 17 gallons to fill it (which means I still had 4 gallons when it read pretty much empty--assuming a 21 gallon capacity). As long as I know how it reads and keep tabs on the odometer, I won't worry about it (for now).

P.S. Recently had all gauges refurbished including the ammeter/voltmeter conversion and if I remember correctly the fuel gauge read the same before and after the dash "restoration".

Mine read 3/4 when full for 25 years. PIA. It was a ground problem. Reads full now! What a feeling.

I'd like to ask where was the bad ground? Mine is that way also and has a new sending unit!

Mine reads 1/2 when full and empty when 1/2 full. Pretty sure i need to bend / persuade the sender a bit but for now I'm good.

I had to tweak my sender, the arm. Once I did that it's working now. 10-15 gallons shows over 1/2. Never topped it off.

Mine in my 68 bee is 3/4 when its full i like it bc thats the not run out of gas model lol when its on e it has 5 gallons

Mine did on both th e67 AND the 73. I put new senders in both and they are still off. But now they read full and at empty the have (67)5 gals left (73) 4 gals left. Eh so be it. I am tired of fooling with it.

I guess I got lucky. My gauge never worked in the five years I owned the car. Found out the sender was corroded to crap and the float was gone. I put in a new fuel tank and a cheap Chinese sender and everything works spot on now.

I put a skosh under three gallons in and the needle barely moved off E, then filled up and it went to full deflection, and at about 1/2 tank I can put in 11 gallons.

Gas gauge is fine but temp gauge reads 1/2 way between cold and operating temp when at operating temp.

My first 66 Coronet gas gauge read 3/4 full when empty and full when full.

I made my own ground bridge with alligator clips and a short wire lead.

Enough material to make three for under $10

IIRC 2/3 gallons left when needle reads empty is by design.
