I am very perplexed, recently my 66 charger has experienced some power loss at speeds above 65 mph. Seems to start chugging and wanting to stall, it runs at idle fine and it runs fine at lower speeds such as in traffic and stop and go. I see no loose spark plug wires or burns, cap and rotor seem ok, they are old though. Has electronic ignition. New coil, carb and fuel filter.

Have not looked at plugs, motor has good oil pressure.
any thoughts ? 383 4 bbl

Could be fuel delivery. That encompasses a lot, float settings, fuel pump, fuel pump rod, filter, fuel line, tank pickup. Definitely check your plugs for lean mixture. A fuel pressure gauge, even if it's temporary, might help. You said you have a new carb. Did you buy it because of the issues you are having or did the issues start after you installed it? They are not always perfect right out of the box.

New carb has been on for 3 months. This just started a few weeks ago. Seems that their is a heavier than normal gas odor too.

I have a mechanic who works on our other cars, he suspects it possibly an electronic issue? But I am not convinced, my thought was fuel.
Very frustrating and odd.
I will pull a plug and see what it looks like

If it's a Chrysler electronic ignition try a test ECU. I always carried a spare. I think I had that issue before with them. But sounds like it could be a fuel starvation issue too. Good luck

Electronic Ignition loose screw, found it by happenstance.
Thanks all for the input !

If you still have problems, inspect the rubber fuel lines at on the suction side of the fuel pump (gas tank to hardline, and hardline to pump.)
I had a fuel delivery issue that drove me crazy. I never did see a fuel leak, but the fuel line at the gas tank had a split that was allowing the pump to suck some fuel and some air. Car would idle fine, but not run hardly at all.

I will check it out
