This will be my 3rd time going to the Cruise, however I will be bringing my Superbee this time.
Are the any Forbbodiesonly events or meet ups? I know Mopar has their big display in the parking lot of that shopping center. I'm coming from Maryland, is anyone else that might want to convoy? I'm leaving MD Aug 16. Mitch Lefever (68chicken) and possiblity you'd be interested?

Born and raised 1.5 miles west of Woodward Ave! Cruised it in the hay days of the 60's with my brother and cousin, in the 70's myself. I now own my cousins original 69 RR that started it all for me! Here's a photo of my Bee in 76 in front of my folks house.

Belmont Hospital has taken over that shopping center where the Mopars used to set up i think.

Yup, shopping center is down and properly is fenced in, just drove by there yesterday.

I live about 15 minutes from there, I used to love the cruise, now I usually go a few times during the week before with some friends, might go on Saturday.

I've always wanted to go but have never had the chance. A few years back I talked to a man fromTennessee at Carlisle and he said it was to risky to go cause of the gangs in Detroit. Is there any truth to this?

No truth at all, first the cruise is not in Detroit, it's north of the city and runs through several upscale communities. Also there are so many cops around you can't spit without one seeing you.
I've gone every year since the first one and have yet to see any gang type **** going on.

Its not in the ghetto and quite frankly the "cruise" area doesn't go into the city. Its more in the very nice suburbs out side of Detroit.

Thanks for the replies guys now maybe I can get my wife to go lol. Been trying to get my dad to go for years.

Correct most of the cruise area has 300000.00 up to 1.5 million dollar homes within a couple miles

An event I haven't been to, but may do so. Any suggestions, recommendations, tips, etc. To a first time attendee ?

If you get serious about coming message me, I would rather talk on the phone than try and type it all out.

Robby, Would you be bringing a Car? Maybe we could follow one another. My wife and I are coming from MD and trailering my Superbee. She found a real nice hotel (inexpensive) with a huge parking lot about 5 miles away from the cruise area, near the mall.

No I wouldn't have, but due to family matters, turns out won't be able to go this year.

Been living in SE MI for about 15 years now and my best advice is to be sure to cruise on Thursday and/or Friday night, the crowds and not-so-classic cars tend to clog up Woodward on Saturday. Going north through Ferndale, Berkley, Royal Oak, Birmingham, West Bloomfield and finally Pontiac the only questionable area might be Pontiac depending on how far you venture from Woodward. Chrysler used to set up at 14mi and Woodward - but that lot is under construction by Beaumont Hospital - I haven't heard where the party will be at this year. They are holding the Roadkill nights drag event on Woodward at the M1 but that's the week before the cruise to "kick off the festivities"

Looking forward to it. Having it at the end of my previous block for 20 years and now two blocks over at the new place a little farther north. Earlier in the week the better the cruising - more open road. Many of the cities shut things down between 9 and 10 at the end of the week to thin the crowds. You could go out there tonight and have a lot of company over a month before the big day.

Not sure if I'm going yet, I'm hoping to have my car drivable by then and will if I do. I will most likely go to the roadkill drags the Saturday before. Supposed to hear tomorrow if my brother gets selected to race. He'll be racing a Black 70 Charger. 572 Hemi with NOS.
