Classic Industries booster/MC kit

Has anyone installed one of the Classic Industries kits? The one I have is # MD850300.
The question I have is, the master cylinder has a retaining plate in the back held on by 2 hex bolts that holds the piston/seals in the MC, it has a boot also. With the MC bolted to the booster those 2 bolts hit the booster before it is flush? I am thinking the boot is for Manuel brakes, but I need the plate, or something to hold the piston in the MC? I think it should have a counter sunk screw. I'll get a couple more pics when I get home, just wanted to get the ball rolling. Thanks!

I'm not familiar with this setup but every power brake MC I've used has a snap ring that retains the piston. No stop or boot required.

I just had the same issue with my '69 Charger. Assuming it is one of the Pirate Jack kits (which from the photp it appears to be), the boot, two bolts, and plate are removed for power brake applications. The plunger is retained internally. As an aside my brake kit works perfectly.

Thanks, I know what you mean. Before I bench bled it, I took the retainer/boot off just to see if it was needed, and the piston would just come out of the MC if not installed. I did not look to see if it was cut for a snap ring, I will do that next.
Thanks for the replies. I am figuring out the the boot/retainer is for Manuel brakes like tcurtis said, unfortunately the plunger comes right out, no snap ring, no little dog ear? Also no instructions, and no one on the tech line had a clue.

Yeah, that won't work for a power setup. The original screws that hold the boot on are slotted screws and not hex. Either way, when you bolt the MC to the car that all has sheetmetal openings to go through, with manual setup. You almost need a countersunk screw to even come close to making that work.

The plunger on mine was positively retained by something inside. There was no visible snap ring. I eas just looking at the Classic catalog the other day and if I remember correctly it says in the item description that the bolts are to be removed for power brake applications.

This is what I ended up doing, brakes are better, but I'll need to keep working on them!
