I have my new carpet laying in the Road Runner and all looks good and I have one question as I can't remember what the old carpet was like so my question is where the gas peddle goes I know there's a foam gasket under carpet but, do I cut the carpet/heal pad for the pedal to lay in place?

This is for 1969 4 speed Runner.

Been many years and old age just don't know lol.

Thanks,
Bill

On my 69 RR I did, that bulge in the throttle pedal requires it. Here is a pic if that helps.

My car came with no carpet in it, but I "think" the white foam pad actually goes UNDER the carpet & you don't cut any holes in the carpet itself....I mean, just punch two holes for the studs on the gas pedal to go through, push the foam onto those studs from underneath the carpet & install the nuts/lock washers under the car. That's how I did mine anyway & I "think" that's where I found the piece of white foam in junkyard cars.

I have examples of original carpet showing the proper cutout for the gas pedal. The foam does go under the carpet and the carpet gets a rectangular cutout opening. Just look at the bottom side of the pedal for a template...The throttle cable bracket has had two plant variations on how the carpet was cut of that as well....

I replaced my carpet last year. I did not cut anything out. Just punched two holes with an awl, then cut small holes and pushed the gas pedal studs threw and bolted it down. Same as I did with the seats.
I used the OEM closed loop carpet and would be concerned about it unraveling.

On the same note, I notice the carpet on the side of the console, next to the gas pedal is getting frayed from my shoe. I have thought of cutting a vinyl protector out of a car in the "Men's Mall" and gluing it to the carpet after shaving it down to the backing, but again, I'm worried about it unraveling.
