Rotisserie mounting

All the threads I've found on this are old and I can't see the pictures, but I'm sure somebody has been through this. I recently bought a rotisserie and it came with all those brackets that everybody offers now. The front is no issue, bumpers are off so I can use the provided unibody brackets to bolt directly to the factory bumper mounting location on the end of the frame rails. The problem I'm running into is mounting the rear. The arms that extend out are 16 inches long but if I try to use the leaf spring adapters it won't work because those mounting points are 18 inches from the rear of the car. I'm also no big fan of having that much weight on that long of a lever fighting the pivot point of the rotisserie, so extending the arms even farther seems to defeat the purpose. Is it possible to use the factory bumper brackets to mount the car to the rotisserie? If not, can you bolt the arms directly to the rear bumper bolt holes in the frame rail of the car in the OE position? 1964 Polara, but the question would be the same for Belvedere's as well (although the Belvedere requires 21 inches of clearance to get to the rear leaf spring bolt.)
 
I built my own rotisserie but made plates to bolt it to the bumper mounts. Your over thinking having it hanging on a rotisserie for a length of time, if the car is solid no worries.... they weigh nothing stripped down to a shell. Balancing them isn't hard, if your even close it's easy to manage. I think I shot for about 1ft over the frame rails for a centerline.
 
I bolt mine to the bumper bracket holes with a short piece of heavy angle iron. I can take a picture if you need it. Fits 63-65.
 
Yes, I'd like to see a picture of what you came up with. I don't want to take any chances since this car means so much to my family. No options for any "uh-ohs" with this one.
 
I made my own rotisserie out of a couple old engine stands and some 2" square tubing. The rear mount was just 2" tubing mounted to the rear bumper bracket holes in the frame rails. Very strong and held just fine.

I made my own rotisserie out of a couple old engine stands and some 2" square tubing. The rear mount was just 2" tubing mounted to the rear bumper bracket holes in the frame rails. Very strong and held just fine.

Did you use longer bolts and go through both walls of the tubing or did you drill a bigger hole on the outside and use the existing bolts to only bolt one side of the tubing up to it? I'm guessing longer bolts but figured I better ask.

Used longer bolts and went through both sides of the 2" tubing and through the frame rail using two existing holes where the bumper brackets mount on each side.
 
I have a not so good picture. But you can see the rear brackets. I also used the rear bumper bracket bolt holes for my rotisserie. I've had numerous cars on like that, never an issue.
I also built my 6 point bar while my car was on the rotisserie. When the car was all together and I reinstalled my door bars, the pins dropped in the same as when it was hanging on the rotisserie. Point is that nothing moved between being on the rotisserie and car back together and on it's wheels.

Very helpful. Did you run into any issues with the body being that far away from the pivot point? It just seems to me that would be a lot of leverage, but then again I don't know how much the stripped shell weighs. I just don't want to run into any issues with it turning. The one I have actually has a gear setup so you swivel it with a hand crank.
 
If I remember right, there was about a foot between the bumper splash shield and the pivot. Gave me room to work on the back of the car. Depending on the type of rotisserie, could be more or less. Mine is an Auto Twirler that I've had for 15 or so years. After installing everything underneath, lines, tank, exhaust, rear axle, I set the body down over the engine, trans, k-member and front suspension, I put the wheels on and took off the rotisserie. That was without interior, glass, doors, hood, fenders, trunk lid...etc. Total load, maybe a couple thousand pounds. Before installing the eng/trans, you could rotate it with one finger. Just keep the load centered, should be no problem.

very similar to how I mounted this camaro....... then I braced it up and cut a giant hole in it........ no worries
