I have a couple questions for 5.7 or one of you hemi gurus. Today I started to part out the other truck I bought last year. It is an 05 Ram 1500 4x4 4 door. I noticed quite a few differences in this engine over my 03 hemi. It has 2 O2 sensors on each side (the 03 had 2 on one side on only) The accelerator is totally different. And there is a tube of some sort running to a sensor of some sort that it bolted to the front of the ride side head. Is this a better engine that the 03? Is the HP and torque the same? Even the engine mounts are different. Just curious about the differences and why the change. Struggling with trying to get the transmission and transfer case out to sell. This truck has torsion bar suspension where the 03 had coils. The rear torsion bar cross member is in the way so cant get it out that way. Not sure how to proceed.
Thanks'

Can't say it's better or worse. That tube is part of the egr system. Diablo at one time had a tune that would do away with it but the EPA slapped their wrists. It has more sensors cause it was changed from the 03' models and a better computer.

You'll need a tb release tool to get the bars out.

It's supposed to be a better eng the HP and touq both were up old eng h.p. was 345 I believe off the top of my head . But! The old eng was so over engineered it turned out to be more reliable after a few problems fixed like valve springs new eng didn't get the crappy springs! Egr is/was on both if it came with it my 03 has no egr but some do . And the 03 has the fly by wire throttle setup took a bit to find that mess .
Both are good some points are better then others. I rebuilt my heads all new hardend valve springs I would not hesitate to drive my truck anywhere now! The 03 is a great motor

Thanks for your input guys. I have both and both have about the same mileage on them. Both run very well just want the best one for my charger. So I guess it don't really matter. The 03 accelerator set up looks easier to adapt to my original pedal. I have the one out of the 05 as well but would have to use that whole assembly. Probably just go with my 03 engine like my original plan. Thanks again for all the help.

I took apart an 03 and 04 (04 is same as 05 all around) and I did not find any major difference. However, I know that computers are different and 03 is using oxygen sensors on one side only. The tube mentioned earlier is EGR tube and you will have to get rid of it anyway.
I think you will not notice any difference running either one of those motors.
