i have to replace my throttle cable ( 72 ssp with a 400 / 4 bbl), anyone have any recommendations ?? i went the cheap route.. throttle hung, almost cost me my car !!
the cable pulled out of the rubber grommet in the firewall , grommet is is split now.

what throttle linkage have you had the best luck with ??

I don't know what the cheap route is. I ordered a replacement extended length cable off ebay and it's worked fine. I needed a longer one due to going to a 440 with an Edelbrock Performer and carb and the stock and the original small block cable was too short.

this was one of the 29.00 braided steel pos from autozone.. it is a factory big block ( 400 2 bbl ) car.

This cable should not be mounted in a rubber grommet. The cable goes threw a metal plate and locked in place with an E clip.

If you're really worried about good operation, easy mounting and the proper length, I recommend you purchase a Lokar cable. For authenticity they come with a black sleeve (cheaper) and you cut them to suit your length. The inner teflon liner guarantees the cable will not bind and the attachment end for the carb is "top drawer".

Lokar cables are designed for their own brackets, not the mopar OE bracket.

if you want an extra long one thats cut to fit, go with this one.
