So I know some people here have a negative opinion of General Lee tribute cars. However, if it wasn't for the Duke's of Hazzard I probably wouldn't be here or have the love for B body cars that I do. So this past weekend my friends and I drove up to Luray, VA for what was supposedly the last Duke's of Hazzard reunion event with all of the surviving members of the cast there. There were over 200 General Lee's registered for the show, with all the mud from Friday nights rain there might have only been 150+. Several of Daisy's '72 Roadrunner in the show too, but it was mostly just a sea of General's.
They did a ramp to ramp jump of a General Lee to close the event both days. I have to admit I was kind of bothered by the idea of jumping and potentially messing up another '69 Charger. Turns out, the car being jumped was a '99 Ford Crown Vic cut up with all the exterior Charger sheet metal attached. That way if it gets messed up they just buy some more repop sheet metal and fix it. Check out the last 2 pics, looks kind of funny seeing a Crown Vic dash inside a Charger.

Thanks for sharing....

Bubba Williams is a good friend of mine....people in the Lee world know who he is....

I am sure he was there...

Very cool. Like you the General probably played a part in me ending up with a Charger.

I would've drove one of my cars up there too ... are you by chance involved with the tidewater mopar club ?

I was a member for a couple of years after I got my Satellite. Haven't done anything with them the last couple of years and have let my membership lapse. Next time I make it to one of their events I'll probably go ahead and renew my membership.
I thought about taking my Satellite but I'm glad I didn't. Mud everywhere and I would have ended up parking it in a wet field full of cow patties, since they wouldn't have let me put it in the show.

That is too cool. I bet being in the nearest town was a crack up. Every 10 minutes the General Lee was driving by.... LOL

I don't have a problem with the General Lee, or people making other cars (smart cars, Dodge vans, etc) into GLs as a joke, but it bothers me to see a '68 turned into one. It's like replacing the sheet metal on an early Firebird to make it a Camaro. You want a General? Good for you! Now go buy a '69 and make one! Or trade your '68 for a '69. That's just me.

Either that smart car, or another smart car made up like the General was there. I think there were 3 '68s made up as General Lee's and it kind of bothers me a little bit too, it just doesn't look right. Like you said, they should have sold or traded their '68 for a '69.

The real question is: Were there any Daisy Duke look a like contests?

No contests. I did see quite few very good looking women dressed up as Daisy Duke though...and I met the real Daisy, Catherine Bach, very briefly. She's looking a lot better than all the other cast members do now. :D

Pictures man, pictures. The devil is in the details, LOL.

I'm incredibly bad at taking pictures, especially if I'm trying to be discrete, so I didn't even attempt to get shots of anyone dressed as Daisy. As for Catherine Bach, I wasn't willing to stand in line for 4 hours and pay $15 for a picture with her. The lines for autographs and pics with the cast members were insanely long. It wasn't the best organized event I've ever been to.

No worries man, just having some fun with ya.

I LOVE the idea of hanging Charger metal on a Ford for the jumps! There are surely plenty of worn out police cars for years to come!

Just a 2 hour drive for me as well. We planned on going but I had to work.

So Daisys RR was a 72 and not a 73?
I honestly don't know. I know I saw at least one 72 this weekend but I'm not that knowledgeable on the differences. It could very well have been a '73 on the show.

in the first season, Daisy had a '73 road runner. Then she had a '71/'72 Satellite.
