Hey guys,

I need to change my rad. It's a 22" aluminium rad, which looks quite cheap and I believe that's the reason it doesn't cool anymore.

Do you guys have any recommendations which rad to choose now?

What about this one?

I don't have a fanshroud, but an additional big SPAL blower in front of the rad.

Or is this the better option? If so, which options do make sense?

I recognized that the block is really rusty. Is that a big issue? Should I do something against it, before I install new cooling parts?

Another question is, if it's better to seperate trans and engine cooling?

Thanks in advance

Is it the radiator or is the radiator gunked up from debris?

I only say that because you mentioned "rusty"....

Both, I believe.

I flushed the whole system nearly a thousand times, exchanged the thermostat against a new Stant 180 degree one.
Right now I'm driving without a thermostat, but no change.

I think the rad was close before. Meanwhile it started leaking.

I'd rather buy a new one, than trying to repair this one. If there is a option, of a OE looking one, even better.

Put the thermostat back in.....

for OE these are the best

I am an OE guy so I will let the non OE members chime in for aftermarket rads

Check my post in the cooling section, 22 vs 26" radiator. I did a write up on the 26" ECP I installed in my 68 coronet.

Having just gone through this myself, I finally consulted the Professor.
Y'all might know him as Rick Ehrenberg. Kinda famous for being THE Mopar guru.
He flat out told me to ignore all the "3 core/4 core/gazillion core" blabber and go get a Griffin and be done with it.
He was right.
As usual. :)

You've flushed it, but is scale / rust still present in the block? If so, a new rad won't help - the rust is hindering heat transfer and may be hindering flow in specific parts of the block.

There are descaling treatments that can be bought... though I can't recommend one as I've never used any.

Regarding radiators, a rad shop could easily fix your leaky aluminum rad. But sounds like you prefer a new one, so my vote is for a custom Mancini radiator. They're aluminum but the tanks resemble stock shape, which I think is cool.

pretty sure the classic industries radiators are made by u.s. radiators. may be a crap shoot buying from classic. i'd have a reputable radiator shop look at what you have first before buying something else. there's probably a bunch of crud and sand in the block. the only way i know to get that stuff out is pop out the freeze plugs.
