I have a 64 fury convertible I picked up at auction recently. 318 poly with a what I'm told is a factory 3 on the tree. The car was owned by a gentleman up in Washington state that owned around 80 plus cars mainly Mopar. He passed away and his family auctioned off his collection. His son and daughter told me the fury was his baby he had restored part of it over 25 years ago and then put it away in his shop with a car cover over it. His son told me he had not even seen the car in 25 years and was not allowed near it. I was told that it was all original numbers matching but I'm not sure because I have not been able to find any information on the Internet of a 1964 fury convertible with a factory 3 on the tree? This would have had to have been a special order? Or ? Anyway I took a picture of the fender tag in hopes that someone here could help me. I also will include the pictures of the last few days of getting it and then getting her running /cleaned up.

Believe me, if/when this motor goes a big block will be going in. But i would feel wrong about modifying an all original car with a factory 3 on the tree I was told this morning that the (C1) on my fender tag indicates factory 3 on the tree. My odometer reads just over 1,700 miles, I'm assuming 117,000 but I'm still waiting on the title hold. I'm not too worried about the motor the 318 poly still puts out some power and for the time being it's fun driving with the 3 on the tree. (Believe me a 4 speed would be more fun) but again she is inot amazing shape we did all new breaks yesterday, fuel filter, master cylinder, air cleaner, cap, plugs, wires, oil/oil filter/ coolant. I'm putting in a new fuel pump today and going to adjust the points and then all the old bushings/shocks will be done next week. Other than that the car will be great, she said as straight as an arrow. I'll post more pictures later today. If anyone had any other info on the fender tag please let me know. Thanks again guys.

My first 70 Satty convertible was a 318/ 3 on the tree. Drove it for 4 years in college. Had a lot of fun in that car. I would leave it original. Nice find. Beautiful ride !!!

I'm liking it, "as is"!

Make sure everything mechanical is up to par and drive the wheels off of it.

See if you can find the build card. A lot of them are taped to the underside or on top of the glove box. You have to go under the dash and reach up in there. Under seats or back of the back one is another place.

And welcome to the site!

As the saying goes,,,,it's yours and you can do what ever you want to!One of my cars is a 63 fury, with 313,push botton and well worn paint, and people say,,WHEN YOU GOING TO RESTORE IT? I hope ,never,,,will drive and enjoy it the way it is!That way more people can tell me what to do with the car I own.CHEERS

Oh man I hope you decide to keep that original me a shame to big block 4 speed it in my opinion

only original once, but live your dream

Maybe the build sheet is still in the car, more often than not it can be found inside the back seat. There is a lot more info on it than the fender tag, which does not always show all the specific parts and options.
On the fender tag, the engine and transmission options would be shown under the letters A through Z, but they were not always included, but the numbers 015 would denote a column shift car (without power steering), also the paint code on your tag is W, which stands for white color paint.

, also the paint code on your tag is W, which stands for white color paint.

No code under the AB tells us the car received the standard engine.
The 1 under the C tells us the car codes 341 column three speed.
The paint code is BB indicating a black car. The W refers to the white sweep/side molding.

Other owners have kept this car in this configuration for 50 plus years. I don't understand the mind set that it has to be physical changed because it has a new owner.

Ther are plenty of modified cars already out there. It may be better for this car if you found one someone has already modified and this car goes to an owner that will appreciate it for what it is.

I guess I missed the poll where Mr. Donner asked everybody's opinion of what to do with HIS car. If you guys who just have to chime in about "leaving it stock" would do more ebay searches maybe you could buy up all the "collector" cars and store them in a warehouse somewhere for posterity. Of course, that's just my humble opinion.Yours may vary...

Here's the OP's opinion, just sayin.....

" Believe me, if/when this motor goes a big block will be going in. But i would feel wrong about modifying an all original car with a factory 3 on the tree..."

Guess he agrees with those saying keep it as is.

It's in the same thread where people post pictures and point out what other people have done to "their" cars then make fun of them.

If you've never thought "What the hell were they thinking?" or never thought "I couldn't/wouldn't do that." then you are a better man than I Gunga Din.

poly's can make some power and have a cool look with twin inline fours . even todays sleeper poly's with a 4'' stroker crank make power at some big block levels . thats a driven torquey motor . if you must change it , just stroke it , your bb buds will be in aw . my buds 277

Yeah like I said before my only plan at this point is one keep it original and just clean it up a bit. If the motor ever blew I would consider a big block . So far we all we have done is, new breaks, master cylinder, oil,oil filter, fuel filter, fuel, cap, plugs, plug wires, fuel pump, and hoses, and a few other things.

kind of looks familiar.. :)
