Hey guys, new here!!
I've got a 64 sport fury that I'm putting new shoes on. Only issue is I'm not sure what I can fit on it. I've got 16x7's for the front and 17x7's for the rear. Both have the factory 4.5" offset. I'm Thinking of a 28"x10 for the rear and 26"x8 for the front?
I'm Horrible with the metric sizes. Your help is appreciated!!!
TIA, Scott

Hi Scott!
Welcome aboard and thanks for joining the Forum.
1964 Sport fury eh?
"Don't get any better than that" !!

Uh, tire size huh?
I have a 63 Polara and I know "we" cant install as big on these as we can on like my 70 Superbee.

FOR THE REAR:
1. You can go: 15x8 with a 295/50/15, but it is a very its tight fit.
2. More like: 15x8, 4 inch back space, 275/60/15 and it fits nicely.

I hope this helps

Thanks. Much appreciated!! 295 sure seems like an awful big tire to fit. Lol
I'll look into the 275's
Thanks again. I'll post a pic once the new kicks are installed

I have 275 Mickey Thompson S/T's on the '63 with 4" backspace. They are perfectly centered and have more than enough room! I plan on trying the 295's.

I do have a later B body housing ('69) to eliminate the nutter axles fyi...

Really?! A 295 will fit?
What are you thinking of going with? I'm wanting a 50 series. But I'm not sure if they'll fit on a 7" wheel or in side the wheel well

I would not fit a 295 tire on a 7"wheel, 8" minimum. And I'd go 4.5" BS if possible as they are more likely to rub outside than inside...

Thanks. After looking into it deeper you're abs right!! I'm Going to put the 17's up front and get a new set of 18x9" for the rear with 4.5" back spacing. I'm Going to go 295/60/18's if I can find a set I like.
Any recommendations?! She isn't a strip car I just want some meat in the rear.

Good luck. I reckon it will be real tight!

How'd this work out for you?

Yeah, I'm curious to. I would think my 65 Coronet would be close to the same.

275/60/15 on my 65 Belvedere. 28'' high x 9'' wide on a 7.5'' rim with 4.5'' Backspace. Stock wheel well.No rubbing. The high and wide will be what you are looking for no matter what the rim is 15/16/17 etc. Just for reference.

I just put L60-15 on a 8" rim with a 4.25" back space. With the wheel mounted on a 64 Dodge you can see how much clearance there is between tire and spring. To outer wheel well I have 1 inch maybe a little more of clearance. If I had to do it over I'd go for a 4.50" backspace.

Here's 275/60/15 on 8" rims with 4.5" backspacing on my '64 Polara. Stock rear suspension and tapered axle diff. Plenty of clearance to the springs and fender wells.

I went with Mickey Thompson 28/10/18 with factory 4.5 backspacing. they are a bit tight to the wheel well lip but not rubbing. I should've gone with 4.25 or 4" backspacing

What size tire and rim are you useing on the front?

Im running a 5 1/2" wide rim. The tire itself is a 710 by 15". Again in retrospect, I should have gone with something a little bigger such as a 760 by 15 tire. These that I have on the car are like pizza cutters. I haven't driven it yet to see how they steer, I have to get my alingment dialed in a little closer before driving it. Lets put it this way, I am going to have to drive waaaay ahead of myself. Not much contact with the road, rears of course different story
