I found this interesting.... Thought I would share

Online they look the same ---- but are they? We bought both of these 9-drawer mobile workstations from Home Depot & Harbor Freight thinking that they were identical, but it turns out we were wrong.....they are not the same.....not even close!

The Husky # 763089 @ $298? --- Husky 46 in. 9-Drawer Mobile Workbench with Solid Wood Top, Black-7440946R - The Home Depot

The Yukon # 63532 @ $299? --- 46 in. 9 Drawer Mobile Workbench with Solid Wood Top

A fellow on the "Garage Journal" forum did a detailed study on tool boxes and it is well worth reading.

Thanks, been looking.

It appears as though I bought the wrong one.

After watching 1/2 way, I can see where this is going.

I will say, I've been shopping for a 42" top box, and after looking at the Husky products, I was not impressed. The struts on the lid easily flex the sheet metal they are attached to, which is a recipe for future tears in the metal due to fatigue. This alone was a major turn off.

I recently started a new job, and there are about a half dozen Husky tool cabinets being used for office supply storage. Nearly all of them have ill fitting, and damaged doors and handles.
It's an odd design that places a lot of stress on a long, bolt together joint using smallish bolts.

Right now, I'm considering a Rural King brand. It appears to be good quality and it's $100 less than even the HFT offering.

I will say, if you ignore HFT without even having a look, I think you are making a mistake.
Their tool boxes are heavy gauge metal and feel very solid.

My Husky Model 7440946R has two slides on each side of the bottom drawers like the Yukon box. It comes with drawer liners. It also has a full length support under the top. Husky has magnetic closure; just close within an inch and the drawer shuts itself and stays shut. Does the Yukon box have the magnetic closure?

However, I had to seal the bare metal on the inside to prevent future rusting.

I only have the older Snap On boxes and Matco cant afford the newer stuff

I'd say the two boxes are identical, including height; both are 37" tall.

No surprise there, nearly EVERYTHING that Home Depot sells, including big name brands are made extra cheap to keep the price down.

I have that HD box and use it for my welders and plasma cutter. Holds all my clamps, extra metal, tig rods, welding consumables, gloves, helmets, grinders, etc.! It also holds 2 full size bottles.

I bought this one in June. Never paid much attention to the details but appeared to be well made. This one has the rib nuts, dual tracks on the bottom drawers and the top is attached with screws. I put a sacrifice board on the top to protect the wood, it seems pretty soft. Maybe they have several suppliers? It didn't have drawer liners and was $250. I use it for a work bench and keep just a few basic tools in it.
