My centerlink is hitting (rubbing) my oil pan. I came across this fix but it was on a cuda-challenger site. The steering box mounting bosses appear to be at different angles than a B-Body car (1970 Coronet). Are the mounting angles the same? Thanks

Mine was rubbing and it turned one engine mount and the transmission mount were collapsed which allowed the pan to drop down. Good luck.

Ken

I replaced the idler, which was shot. I bent the lower aspect of the idler mount down about 1/16" (the new idler wouldn't fit without this adjustment. I also did the steering box shim modification. I now have 1/2" throughout the range of steering. The trans mount was new and the motor mounts looked fine. Thanks for your reply.

Hello All,
Is this still the best solution to getting some clearance to prevent rubbing on the pan? I have a 1967, 440 dropped into my 70 Runner. (originally 383) Kinda surprised I'm having this problem. I can't shim the motor mounts because I have a close fit with Doug's 2" headers.

Hope it's okay to tag onto this older thread.
Thanks

That drawing looks like its from the Kit Car manual. Its for getting the bump steer corrected. Besides motor mount issue possibilities another thing maybe giving you this problem is that the k-frame is off an e-body or the center link may be e-body too or off still something else. B and E body k's can interchange but the steering box mount angle is different and the center link has a different drop to it. I believe that the 71- units are the same for both but 70 units are different between them. Old cars= parts off something else sometimes.
