Please help. I have a 66 Coronet 440 with 318 Poly motor. My gas gauge and temp gauge do not register. Any leads on what and how to trouble shoot? Thanks, Clark
Both are feed current by the voltage limiter. Inconsistent 6 volts. With the ignition switch in the run position pull the wire from the temp sending unit and check for current.
OK, dumb question.... are these similar to the later, say 68-70, sending units? If so, for the gas gage, you should be able to disconnect the wire at the gas tank sending unit & ground it. With the key "on" the gage should go to "full" IF the wiring/gage are good. If it does, that would indicate a stuck float or a bad fuel sending unit. If the gage doesn't move, that would indicate a bad wire from the sending unit to the gage (check with a VERY long piece of wire, bypassing your factory wiring harness tank sender to gage) OR the gage itself. I "think" you can run the same basic test for your temperature gage. Someone please jump in if I'm wrong on this.
