Why does he have to paint every car he gets his hands on some variation of silver and why does he have to put those ridiculous pimp wheels on all of them? I am watching an episode where he is pimpin' out a 64 Plymouth, I think I'm going to get upset.:BangHead:

No question the guy is talented plus he is a really nice guy, but his cars are just not my style.

I prefered boyds. Hand crafted cars . his team created cool stuff. Artwork pieces.

That's what he does. Nice guy and generous to charities - but - I told Linda if the Chipper shows up tell him to keep his hands OFF of my Coronet. It would be Foosed up.

I would let him (Foose) build anything he wanted for me!!!....I've seen him build many cars other than silver and certainly wouldn't be miffed if it was. I'm sure it would be top notch!
Buuuuttttt.... if I had a choice of builders it would probably be Trapanier

Sweet hot rods Mike. But the Challenger and 'Cuda above were timeless bitchin muscular beauties on day one. (Opinion)

Boyd's cars were mostly half assed!

I saw one episode where they were installing the tail light on a 55 Chevy and the camera got a shot inside of the opening. Solid rust! They were throwing those rides together just to get them out the door. I always got the impression he was a real ***.

I find most of those "build" shows (come to think of it maybe all of them) beyond my taste. everybody has the same theme. if somebody done to my cars what these guys do i'd probably be in the big house for planting someone.

Agree but we are talking about customs aren't we? I've always loved the Cuda's and they will always be timeless...but the Terracuda was insane, if you like full customs....which I do,
The talent that Chip has is pretty untouchable, Boyd was legendary but relatively common...I think a lot of his recent popularity was due to Foose .

Boyd's wheels were also horrendous!

Fooses' work is almost "donk" and I'm not a fan at all. The only customizations I like are with the engine and some fat rubber on 15 inch wheels. Graveyard Cars builds them closer to my taste.

I like what he does with the older stuff.
I really never liked anything that he does with muscle cars.
And I also never liked the giant pimped out wheels.
Seems maybe I'm in the minority because he certainly makes a good living doing what he does.

I told my wife the same thing as we watched the 'unveil".

I'm with you 100%. Hate the stupid pimp wheels and rubber band tires. Man I hope that trend dies soon. Might as well add some ridiculous looking flames and shag carpet on the dash.

Foose is in the "hot rod" business, not the "resto" business. That's the reasoning behind the rims, the pinstriping, the shaving, etc. If you check out some of his Ridler winner/contenders, some are hand-fabricated just like Marcel did for Boyd, and not much pimpin. On the flip side, the Overhaulin show has a "brand" style that he has said he wants lookers to know that car came from the show.

When you see a Foose or Trepanier car in person, it'll knock your socks off even if you've only got eyes for factory correct 14" steelies.

A lot of nice cars came out of Coddington's shop in Stanton.
Chezoom, Cadzilla, Alumacoupe.
It was the Talent that Coddington managed to gather,,,,He was hands on in the old days, but the card that made name for Him were due to the Talent He corraled,, He was a producer is all, & He screwed a lot of the People Who worked there, did not give the credit where it was deserved & His turnover of talent was high...& thats why the later **** wasn't as nice as the late 70's through eighties stuff. Jesse James was doing a lot of english wheel for him for less than 10 bucks an hour & couldn't get paid regularly......so James got busted breaking in trying to collect on back earnings. The tattoo on his palm, "pay up sucker" was directed at rottington. As a person, Boyd was an asshole. That pissant sidekick too.

Chip Foose was Boyd's manager and designer till he broke off and a lot of the talent followed him including the guy who ran the CANC machine for his wheels.
He's an upright guy and you definitely haven't seen the cars he's designed and hand built or you would be if a different mindset

Exactly. He can take an awesome car. Do a great job on the body, then make it look like Fifty-Cent just stole it.
Personally I think he ruins everything he touches
