Hi folks, I've been searching the forums and just can't get a warm and fuzzy answer for my question. I'm putting this car together from parts (i.e. I can't measure existing setup). My 440 came out of a motor home, so I'm having to buy a pan for the transplant. I'm trying to decide between the 6 quart hemi pan or the 7 quart deep pan, but I'm concerned about ground clearance. I have the larger torsion bars which I hope will help, but curious if anyone is running this pan and if they've had ground clearance problems. Thanks!

Running a 8" sump, lowered about 2.5" and the pan sits just shy of 4" from the ground. Not 1 problem to date. I also am running the Hotchkis 1.1 bars and Bilstein shocks. Dont be scared!

If I do it over again, I'd do the 6qrt pan. I'm just going with it for now.

Thanks for the feedback, sounds pretty sweet! Running the HV oil pump and would really like that extra quart of oil, but if it ends up on the ground... I'm thinking the hemi pan will do what I need it to do, not planning on seeing much track time (if any). Basically just building a ground pounder to floor between red lights.

I used the 6qt and dont have to worry about about speed bumps ect. I dont even think about ground clearance issues at all. Also the HV pump is really not needed unless you enlarge the oil pickup hole in the block, then it is just overkill for a street car. I used a standard melling pump with a hi pressure spring. When warmed up it carries 65 psi at cruise and 25 at a 800 rpm idle.

A 402 pan or copy of it (6quarts) with matching pick up would work just fine.
