Woodward Dream Cruise 2017

I'm ready to start packing LOL... I guess I'll break my Bee out tomorrow and make sure everything is still good. It's been about 3 weeks since my last drive.

I'm jealous. I wish I had more time to work on my Coronet.

Looking forward to it. Having it at the end of my previous block for 20 years and now two blocks over at the new place a little farther north. Earlier in the week the better the cruising - more open road. Many of the cities shut things down between 9 and 10 at the end of the week to thin the crowds. You could go out there tonight and have a lot of company over a month before the big day.
Let me know when the FBBO cookout is, I'll swing by with a six pack.. LOL

I'll be wearing this t-shirt. Bald guy with prescription sunglasses. Not sure if I'll be wearing a hat, my be to hot.

Lol. I put that in the wrong thread. Funny, I was getting the alignment done on my Explorer a few days ago and a guy walked in and asked if anyone ever said I looked like "Bruce Willis" LOL.

So my brother is in the Roadkill field for the drag race. First year running in it. Trying to figure out what people do for fuel. Anyone run in the drags before? thoughts or tips would be appreciated.

Well the roadkill event was pretty good, at least for a couple hours. Scott, my brother, was about midway through the first group of 25 to make passes for time. So backtrack to Thursday, they were testing the Charger at the newly re-opened Onandaga Dragstrip, yea for that. They figured out that the Caltrac rear suspension had settled in so much that the driveshaft was binding up. Friday new driveshaft. Got it back to my brothers and discovered it was the same length, sent it back to trim down, got the car ready to take to Tech Friday evening as it was. We kept dodging rain showers all evening. As we drove to Pontiac Friday he said it felt there might be a vacuum leak and wonder if a head gasket had gone bad. We got to Pontiac Friday night and he started looking at vacuum lines. He found a vacuum cap either on the back of the intake or the carb had come off. Ran to parts store and got caps. Plugged it and then found a second one missing. plugged it and drove to tech. Tech went great. The tech people loved the Charger. After getting back Friday night they changed the drive shaft and it definitely made a difference. Freed up the rear suspension and stopped the binding. So Saturday morning Scott needed to drive the car to get the Fi-tech tuned and the NOS working properly. He ended up driving all the way to Pontiac but got it all working. I drove the truck and trailer over there while they were driving. Roadkill was pretty cool. It was our first time so we have a lot of figuring out todo. Lots of great cars racing. So Scott lines up against a Buick GNX. He got a great launch and shot down the track. Jack and I were spectators because only Scott and 1 crew member were allowed in the racers pits. The car owner was the crew member. Anyway he had a great run going but when it shifted to 3 something broke in the tranny and the engine revved up. End of the day. Next year I really need to have my car running so I can put it in the show and shine.

Killer Cars!!!!!!

Yeah, there were a bunch more that I didn't get pics of. I wasn't able to get a bunch of them because of how the fencing and barriers were setup. I know in the pic, third from the bottom, you can see the front of a Chevette behind the black Super Bee. The guys rolled it at the turn around and rolled over the concrete barrier and fencing. Still haven't heard anything about it or the driver. Hopefully he was ok.

I'm all cruised out. All packed up and ready to head back to MD early in the a.m. Just saw my car on TV on Channel 7 Action News Dream Cruise coverage. Pretty cool. I also met Dave Kindig of Bitchin Rides. Got my pictures taken with him at our hotel and chatted with him about my Bee for 15 minutes.

Love the altered Coronet.. as well as the others.. to bad all Javelins didnt look like that.. thats sweet..

Glad people had a good time and that the weather was good. The kids and wife decided we were going to Cincinnati for a couple days and drive from there Monday to see the eclipse. Oh well maybe next year I'll be able to drive my car around.

Had a great time Thursday and Friday night, also Saturday morning, I had to leave around noon to go to the Howell melon fest with other friends and had allot of fun out there too.
We sure did luck out with the weather, just perfect.

Banning semis and billboard trucks was a great idea. The cars flowed by a lot better than past cruises.

they fence that off for a drag strip?

they fence that off for a drag strip?
Yes. I believe it's an agreement with the city of Pontiac that only the driver and 1crew member is allowed in the race area. So race area/drag strip are fenced off from the rest of the M1 concourse and public.
