I posted this build update on my opening Welcome to FBBO thread, which I have since been told, wasn't the best of threads for me to have done so. I also thought that I would add the post here - just in case you share that certain weakness, for Snakeskin Green - while reaching out to a few more of the FBBO readership.

Keep On Rock'n :)

I love this car, it is AWESOME. Everything is done as I would do it. Thanks for showing it.

That is one sweet X you have there. Love everything about it - and I'm picky having one myself. Top shelf!

I love that color! I wish my client ne was the same color. Here is a walk around of mine:

Lol... good eye.
Yes, I prefer the '69 hood inserts. (I still have mint '68's in a box somewhere).

Did you spot anything else, I snuck off a '69?

There are a couple of Harley parts too... rofl.

I'm just an amateur but here is what I caught...

1) Woodgrain console top plate - I like it better than the plain 68 as well.

2) Lower dash pad - I believe non-ac 68's should have a center opening with a blank-off cover.

3) I don't know how you got that 69 grill to fit the 68 upper grill tie bar so well.

4) I don't think headrests were an option in 68 but I may be wrong.

None of these take away from the beauty of the car though.

And cruise control too!!!!

Awesome

Lol... not bad, not bad.
Late '68 X's came with headrests thou. I know my first '68 X did, back in the day.

Wow... I'm surprised. You guys are still missing one of the most OBVIOUS '69 mods :)

I can't spot anything else, but I am not a concours judge either.

Off topic...I've never seen ashtrays in the front armrests. Is that custom?

The front arm rests, are original, as far as I know. They came with the car and I've never had a reason to swap 'em out.
I won't totally give away what you guys have missed, but will sit on the obvious answer - for a bit longer :)

I knew you would figure it out eventually. lol.

Is the cruise control original to the car?

Thats one nice ride you have there!!

The cruise control was not stock on this car. It is an era correct mopar cruise control unit, complete with all cables and driver control, situated on the matching signal lever, that my brother installed about 25 years ago. I do not remember the exact source. I have since disconnected the carb cable - but I suppose, it could be setup again easily, if so desired.
It was easier to leave this option on the car, for now anyway. Some like it. Ya, it's kind of cool and in keeping with the 'Gentleman's Hotrod' concept, but I have never used it. My brother did... I'm more an 'on/off' gas pedal guy. lol.

Now that I have most of the tough stuff done - I can have fun designing and installing some of the finer details...

I have a few more ideas, I hope will add nicely to the general scheme of things - without going overboard. lol.

Thank-you for your comments.

PS: The YouTube version of this same video, is not cut off at the very beginning, like what happened on FBBO.
I'm not sure, why I lost the beginning footage here, but I think folks still get the general idea. **** Happens :)

For example... one idea I would now like to pursue, is an original hood prototype, I designed back in 2010.
The current hood, is a failed attempt to create, what I had envisioned. I could have taken the easier route,
and gone with something like the RR's 6-pack hood, but I wanted something strikingly more unique for my
restoration/mod project X.

To this day, I can't find anything that really jumps off the page for me, so I am destined to build it myself.

It's going to be a shitload of work, but should be worth all the time and trouble.

I have posted the following pic elsewhere on FBBO and yet again here - for your quick reference purposes.

I know - the original X hoods are cool 'n all ... but what are your thoughts, about the following prototype?

Build it as shown - yes/no (or) forget it !!!

Hood History 2.jpg

I am talking about now modifying the hood as is shown above. (No other design is being considered)

The rest of the car... well, we all know it no longer looks anything like this :)

Your further comments are appreciated.

Keep On Rock'n

I love it! Build it for sure. It beats the hell out of all the Chevelle style cowl induction types on non-Chevys and if you need additional underhood clearance, this is a great way to go! Nice ingenuity!
