I know some of you couldn't care less, and some believe owners are "bragging" when they say their car is a numbers matching car. What say you?

Though it was not a priority when looking, I got lucky and found a survivor. Numbers matching on the radiator support and under the deck lid gasket as well as the engine and trans.

i have one of each
how do i vote??
got one missing everything even the fender tag
got one with matching trans
got one with matching engine
and in the end
i don't give a f what matches..lol

Original motor(poly 318), trans(727), rear end (741-8 3/4)...cheaper to stay original.

I bought a 68 back in 71 as a 18 year old. Second owner and never sold the car. So yes it's matching numbers but only because of that. I kept it all these years - stored it for about 35 or so years then did a ground up on it that started 5 years ago. I'm out enjoying it now - but the matching numbers thing were never a big deal to me - it just kind of happened that way.

It would be if I put the original block back in. I don't think it matters enough to switch one 383 for another and do all that work right now though.

On my 68, not even close and it doesn't bother me one bit.... factory 318 car, now. 030 over 383, 727, 3.55 s/g 8 3/4 .... and I smile every time I drive it !

My 70 dart, total numbers match... 340/4spd car ... and I smile in that one too !

Only if completely unaltered in any way.
How the heck go you do a ground up restoration and claim it numbers matching original?
This is hog wash

I have one that has numbers matching on all stampings, and one that is a creation of my liking. The original engine is not in the car though. It needs rebuilt and I had a perfect runner to put in it instead.

Good question! ...So, if I had a heart transplant, would I still be me?

If it's numbers-matching (engine, trans, rear, body stampings, VIN) that's how.

Numbers matching what's That? None of this car matches. Main shell is from 1 car. Fenders, hood, and doors are from another car. Trunk lid is from yet another car. Several other cars have donated small parts. The back half is pure aftermarket. The engine is from a truck, trans from an RV, and rear end from another car. None of that matters now.

depends.
the vert's original engine , trans and rear gear are stored in the shed.
body stampings match
the vert has a date correct motor and trans in her

All of the above.

jason79, Nice ride! Metaldad, another beautiful buggy!
Hey fellas, please don't interpret my view as "non numbers matching cars suck".
When I'm at Carlisle, I don't check the drive train before thinking a car is sweet.

Nope nom cars are to expensive and not fun because if you hurt it it's worthless! I'll take a stripper and have fun with it!

Technically my 72 rallye is a nom car I sold off the trans for a 4 speed setup everything else is nom but I can honestly care less .
Only hemi cars and such should be nom

Not a single car of mine has it's original engine/trans. They've got way-better stuff.
