So...thinking about pulling the trigger on a new set to replace the ratty ol' hookers in my 68 satellite/440. Consensus seems to be Doug's or (gulp) some tti's..
On the Doug's- how will upsizing to the 2" primaries affect my performance (positives/negatives)?
For both brands, do they have ample clearance around the torsion bars and power steering? (Gotta be better than what I have now!)
Currently 1-7/8" headers to 2-1/2" pipes and major dinging was required to keep them from slapping the t-bars as the engine vibrates...not that I mind wacking things with a hammer just wondering if it's worth the hassle and $$ to upgrade..thanks!

What are you going to do with the 1-7/8" headers?

What kind of power does the engine make? Likely don't need 2" unless making 600+ HP?
Have the TTI 1-7/8 on the 440 stroker in the Coronet Convertible. They fit good, but are not cheap. The vehicle is a crusier, not a race car and I just wanted something that fit well and was low hassle (no exhaust leaks.) No complaints on the TTI headers.

I have Doug's 2" on my 493 w/3" exhaust and I did run them on my spare .030" 440 w/509 cam and they felt pretty good. If you ever plan on MORE engine I would buy the 2" now.

Sorry, not sure what your application is. If it's a drag race car 2" is the clear choice. If a street only car, the 1 7/8" seems like better. TTI's fit good on my '66 Satellite. No experience with Doug's.

I bought the Doug's, 2" being on a tighter budget, I'm definitely pleased with them. They stated that the black painted ones won't burn off. They were right, even through the 20 min cam break-in, the black held up. Seems to even be stronger now that they've been heat cycled a couple of times. The clearance around the frame, steering, starter, is great. No hammers were used during the installation.

Ok thanks guys. Car is a for-fun driver that sees occasional full blast, in the 475-500hp range..I think the 2" Dougs might be a little big also, but I don't see them having smaller for my application, while tti does but with the higher price tag..I guess I would rather shell out than lose low-end torque

Could be wrong, but i think TTI has the 1 7/8 header. Call them. Bet Doug's does too. But a 475 - 500 Hp motor really does want the 2" header.

Dougs d451 or d452 depending on b or rb block on every mopar e or b body that I put headers on. Never looked back. Fit like a glove everytime.

Get your wallet. TTI's were 1k to the door. Just the headers. Been on about 10 years. One ding required near the passenger side pitman.

If your budget can't do dougs or tti, my vote is for Flowtech. I'm running their 1-3/4" ceramic coated headers - 451 in my 69 belvedere with stealth heads.

Nice ceramic coat look like chrome... fit is really good. like $350.

Took them off for the break in because of the ceramic coat, but I'll put the back in soon enough.

I've been looking at Summit's ceramic headers...just over $400.anyone have experience with them?

Yessir my hookers have been on for break-in on a few motors...I love to paint them first and then during an initial start they put on quite a smoke show! They've gotten the red glow too...

I have a 383 in my road runner...how is the install on your Belvedere?

I can do a little ding here or there...hammering them along an 8" section of their length is what I'm trying to avoid lol. Where my hooker driver side header went from 4 pipes into the collector was only about 1/4-3/8" from the torsion bar for 8 inches...no likey the bang-bang!

Install was pretty much standard mopar big block vs header drama, but they fit w/o a ding.
