I've been eye-balling a 1967 Dodge Coronet locally here on Long Island, NY. The seller now tells me that according to the build sheet, the car originally had a column shift (it now has buckets and a console) He claims it was changed over during restoration with all of the correct parts out of another 1967 Dodge.

Does this drastically diminish the value of the car? Everything else is supposedly correct including original #'s matching drivetrain.

Thanks,
Bill

P.S. - Sorry I'm such a pain in the @ss with all of these stupid questions.

Are you sure it's a real R/T?

The only stupid question are the ones not asked. At least that is how I make myself feel better about asking them :).

While I am no expert, unless it is a concours restoration where everything needs to be original for originals sake, I would think a buckets/console would be more desirable to people but that is just me.

Column shift is not unheard of on an R/T, but kind of unusual, especially in 67.

Buddy seat?

Thanks, guys!

1967Coronet440: No Hemi. 440cu.in./375hp/4bbl. V8.

YY1: VIN# WS23L77xxxxxx = Real R/T. I've seen column shifter with and w/o buddy seat.

Plymouthman72: Thanks for making me feel better! I too prefer the console and buckets, but don't want to give this guy "all original" dollars for a car that's NOT an all original car!

The things that need to be addressed seem to be minimal. Worn arm rests w/some pitting in the chrome backing plates, slightly wrinkled door panels in places, two small splits in seems of back seat, emblem on drivers front bucket detached on one side and carpet that's showing it's age. All else seems to be in very good shape.

Fwiw...there are mistakes in the VIN decode attachment......

Just to be sure....have you checked the body numbers against the broadcast sheet and fender tag if present?

Thanks, 69Coronetrt. Can you post a correct VIN decoder chart for me? It would be greatly appreciated. - Bill

69Coronetrt & Metaldad, I don't have a pic from the VIN tag, but here's the fender tag and broadcast sheet. Hopefully, these will help...???

I wouldn't get to hung up on the value aspect. If the parts and craftsmanship are good then I would be okay. If you need a car that is 100% day 1 then this would be an issue.

There were no body number on our 67 that matched the tag, not sure where they would be located.

The top row '54' is where the codes are for console and seats. Go to myMopar.com and you can decode the entire tag. Build sheet looks mint. Sounds like it has some issues for a car that was restored, kinda odd.

Pretty plain car overall, great color combo. Disc brakes too.

Thanks, 69L48Z27 Please explain your "pretty plain car" comment. It's well optioned with PDB and P/S. Interior is premium package. Is there anything other than factory A/C, power windows and a vinyl roof (which this car doesn't have) that would make this a "fancier" car?

They look great. Now, just match the body to the tag and BS. Look for numbers similar to this picture on the radiator support but with your numbers: 7761208548

Some cars have the numbers stamped behind the rear bumper:

The PDB and PS are nice. I can't really read or enlarge the BS to see what other options, not coded on the tag, came with the car.

You guys are GREAT! Thanks so much. I'm leaving for the Carlisle Fall show tomorrow morning. If any of you are going, please LMK. I'd like to meet you in person.

Most things you listed are standard. Off the top of my head, options are things like:
- rear speaker, maybe 8 track. Not sure when that showed up though.
- bumper guards
- A/C
- console
- tach
- stripe
- disc brakes
- steering wheel
- wheels
