I have a Sun Super tach from the 60-70's. For night time drag racing and the light doesn't show the needle & tach face well. I would like to rig up a little exterior light that would shine on the tach face. The light comes on at the RPM I would like to launch at. Allows me to watch the tree instead of the tach. Light stays on, while RPM is above that point. The light illuminates better, the tach face and adjustable pointer for shifting. I can rig up the light, but how to trigger it? I am thinking some kind of switch that operates off the throttle linkage, (Holley) and adjustable for setting the RPM level . Probably would need to be all mechanical? A different tach is not an option.................MO

Why couldn't you just use a old autometer shift light that takes the chips/pills

I agree, put a shift light in it somewhere. It'll be more accurate than one of those sun tach's anyway. Those things were horrible for accuracy. At least the ones I've had or seen.

I've got a spare Sun Super Tach II if you need it, CP.
My eyes are far from the best, but I see mine OK at night. In fact, I have it wired so the light is on anytime the car is running, day or night. Kinda dark in a black interior b-body. :)

I recently installed a new LED kitchen fixture. I was leery that it wouldn't be bright enough. SURPRIZE ... I can signal outer space with the thing !!

An RPM switch can be set to activate a light at your desired RPM.

That's interesting. I will look into that. If it does not require MSD , it would make things much simpler. It would really work well If I could program it to light a bulb at launch, and then light it again at shift RPM. Thank you for your input........................MO

Maybe so, but there is no tach cooler than an old Sun Super with the center red line knob and the chrome case in a nostalgic car...........MO

We have a new fridge with double doors, a drawer below them, and freezer on the bottom. It has LED lights, and I LOVE them !.............MO

Living in Vegas you should be able to get a Day-Glow Elvis poster and a black lite, then you be post dating yourself. If you find 2 send me 1 and I will pay Good $$ for it.
