Hearing aids

I had to buy a little dehydrator (my ear cooker) and put them in at night when I open the battery door and see moisture, summer times around here are high humidity, moisture will take it's toll on them. AND DOGS!
BTE= behind the ear
IEC= in ear canal

Wait until wise guys come up to you and mouth words but aren't making a sound. Had a electrician with earing aids at work a few guys would do that to him. He'd turn up the volume and they'd start laughing.

Not about mole, if I hold either button about 5 seconds, there's one on each ear piece, they shut off, but will not kill the current, when touching either button a second time they turn on. That you may want to try and see what happens. Not telling you what you have or not have, just saying, maybe.

When that happens I look around for a piece of paper and a pencil, hand it to him and yell real loud, " Write it down, I can't hear you."

Very small, with a thin wire to the cup that rests in your ear canal and another springy one that rests in you ear contour to hold it in place. There is a little swing out door on the back end of the aid that has a detent first stop where it shuts the battery off from the aid and then all the way open to change them. Very comfortable. They have a little button on the top on each one. They talk to each other via Bluetooth tech. So, if you push the right ear button it increases hearing 3 times above normal. The left one three times below. If you shut them off, when you turn them back on they auto reset to normal. As you turn them on there is a bing, bing,bing sort of chime that says they are working and if the battery is dying it makes another tone to let you know. There is a cleaning kit for them and the batteries come 60 to a pack.

Yep looks like the same kind I have. I have had them a year now. There great! Mine set me back 3500.00 well worth it. You don't realize what you haven't been hearing. Especially when listening to music.

I agree with you about--the more I read the greater my confusion.
My hearing loss was measured (8 years ago) to be at the bottom end of "severe". That assessment alone gives me little to go with aside it places me in a category. :rolleyes: The fact that I had the test on my own initiative and they said --yep-- leaves me feeling a bit ripped off from the start.

About the choices? I am about to jump in and get something.

Does anyone know how the -test driving- of the aids works? Considering the cost I would hope finding what works best for me, in the long run, does not mean there is no trade-in value for something that falls short in a few weeks or months.
 
You'll either love them or hate them and there will be times when you love and hate them in the same minute. I was given a week to field test the highest grade (there were three grades) behind the ears, I heard things I thought never existed anymore. I settled for the middle grade. There are times I don't like them, just turn them off. I do think they are tuned for the frequency you are loosing and can be retuned later if your hearing changes. If in the beginning what I decided to go with, for some reason did not work for me, the Hearing Professional would work to see what more could be done to make it work. Two other family members went to the same place. My brand is 'Oticon-Ino Pro', I think out of New Jersey. If after you have them you may find yourself looking at other peoples ears and find out just how many people have them. It's not nice to drive the Charger with them turned on at normal setting, when you get where you are going your ears are ringing. So you just keep pushing the left side's little button to lower the sound level or just hold either left or right button for 5 seconds and they shut off.
 
Dual fours is spot on with his post. I have the phonak's latest behind the ear models with bluetooth. They were pricy...paid 6K.
