Okay, had a lean fuel issue on my Plymouth, installed a Aeromotive 1000 fuel pump and a bypass regulator, running 8 an to the front and running 6 an to the back for the return to my stock tank. now the question becomes, how to get the line back into the tank somewhere. drill a hole and what? bulkhead fitting w/ gaskets? or some other way, is there a special fitting for this or will I have to go with a cell??
 
Typically you would weld a bung in the tank for return.

Make sure you have tube half way in the tank, if you just blow it in there it'll aerate the fuel.

Thank s for the heads up on the depth for the tube, I would have fxxked that up and had a foam problem next,LOL. I removed the tank and took the sending unit out and looked it over pretty close, with a half inch pick-up there is not much room there. I think what I'll do is purge the tank with argon and silver solder a 6an bung with a short turn down(4") that should work, if I don't blow myself up!!! LOL Dave.

Sounds like ur pump is in front of the tank, how about building a dual pick up sending unit w/ the return pointed away from the pick up side. no welding on the tank.
 
Do Hemi and 440 GTX cars have a return line already plumbed into the Sending Unit? The filter has a return line.
 
Okay, so I did some research on you tube and found out that stainless steel can be silver soldered, so I figured out where to put the hole in the pick-up unit. put it in the vise and pushed a hole in it w/ a center punch till I got it to 3/8s, put the tube in and proceeded to put a very nice sweated solder job on the tube. totaled out the insulator w/ heat and had to fix that, but all is well now. I'll get my granddaughter to hold the tank up w/ her feet while I put the strap on and call it a done deal. hope for no leaks when I turn the pump on to test. 1/2 inch to front and 3/8 s back to the tank for the return, my first time for a pump w/ a return line. going back to school!!! Got the tank back on and fired up the pump, no runs, no drips, no errors, set the pressure at 6 1/2 lbs for the two eddys, have to test and check. let it run for about three to four minutes, all seems to be fine. Thanks for the help in solving my problem. Dave.
 
It was all for naught!!!! damn thing uncovers the pickup at just more than a half a tank, so all the soldering and work on the tank made the problem even worse. today I put a fuel cell in the trunk and hooked up the lines, tomorrow we will run a test and see if it improves things, It has to help having the sump at the back of the tank and several inches higher. car has a slight miss all the way thru the gears, my tappet clearance is set @ .026 and .028 for my old .590 PS, think I'll open them up two. the pipes are now showing a medium gray color and there is a small amount soot in the pipe, I think it's good now. if that doesn't cure the miss I'll start looking at gaskets around the carbs.
