I have a 63 Polara that had a front disc brake conversion installed, but nobody knows what kit was put on it. Without taking thigs apart I can see that the caliper bracket on passenger side has part #2627BL cast onto it. Is that enough for somebody to know what parts were used in the swap so that I can look up correct caliper and pads or do I have to tear it down further.

Attached is a pic

Also what might cause fluid level in front of master cylinder to go all the way to the top when it was only filled to about 1/4 below top?

Thanks!

OK so if I looked up calipers for 62-64 B & E body they would probably be the correct ones? This car has fatman 2 inch drop spindles on it.

Thanks!

If it were me I would just call MBM and talk to them about what you have. Otherwise, take what you have to your local parts store and compare.

Those sure look like the 73 and later A body calipers that I put on my Fury. I'll bet that the conversion was made from that model. Very common. BTW, is your bleeder screw at the top? Looks like it's upside down... As far as the fluid level, look for a pinched steel line or a collapsed rubber hose.

Look like a body but I see the bleeder at the top so that's good .

Thanks guys ... turns out the brakes are fine, but checking the brakes resulted in me finding an awful bulge in the tire that could not be seen with it on the car, and you could see metal through it! My wife and I were lucky to make it home from a trip through the mountains where guardrails are few and far between!!! Tires are Remington XT-120 CTR that looked brand new (car only had about 500 miles on it since restoration when I got it) but tires are actually from February of 2001. Buying new ones all the way around tomorrow, there goes the budget for my Javelin project :( The back tires are P295/50R15's and pricey

The guy I bought it from said be thought they might have been from a Volare? Does that sound right?

That's what it looks like to me. A Volare, A-body (Scamp, duster, ect) I did the swap on my front for my '71 and it looks VERY similar to what I have now. More inspecting needs to be done with the brake fluid issue in my opinion
