I swapped a working third member out of my Coronet for a new 489 case 3.55 sure grip from Cass (aka Doctor Diff). I am going to sell the old one and the axles. The case is 741 case 2.76 open and a small (7260) yoke. I see 8 3/4 third members of all kinds selling for ridiculous prices.

Also, how much are the axles worth. The passenger side needs a new adjuster ring. The bearings are good.

Is $150 for the third member and $100 for the 2 axles a reasonable price?

I think you’re pretty close on the third member, I’ve had my 8 3/4 axles listed multiple times on multiple sites, started at $100 moved it down to $50 and they’re still sitting in the corner of my shop.

741 case weaker small pinion,
smaller weaker u-joints for the 8.750"
2.76:1 gears unless your doing a restoration
that had/need them hi-way gears,
an open diff, for resale IMO they really aren't popular...

IMO I don't think your prices are outrageous,
fair as it comes to Mopar parts prices
but;
IMO if you want to move them, then price drop it in 1/2 at min.
they may move, but even than with them gears & the 741 case
small u-joints & open one leger diff. etc., it's not that popular
even if they are perfect...
{& a dime a dozen so to speak, a shitload of them as take outs}...

good luck, happy Moparing

Before i knew better I picked that third member at a swap meet for 25. Its still laying around the garage somewhere. Everyone wants the 742 or 489

3rd member good for holding the door open on a windy day.

Axles are everywhere.

Except when you need one...

I don't think a '741/2.76 is worth anything. just save it for a road gear. swapping yokes is easy.

741-2.76 $100-$125

Axles- (clearly labeled for which housing) $25 each.

They may move at those prices.

I sold the center section for $100 and both axles for $25 each tonight. I also met a great Mopar guy who owns a 1971 Barracuda and some other stuff. He's retired Air Force and seems to be a pretty nice guy like the rest of us Mopar nuts.

So, thanks for all the advice. I used a Facebook group called Oklahoma Mopars and parts buy sell https://www.facebook.com/groups/293559024138113/
