Headliner bows were sandblasted, so no color markings on the ends. Is there a stamped identification number, or do they each measure differently? How can I identify their order?

I see they are discount eligible from YearOne and sold at CI. Repops are identification marked too. Tell me if I'm wrong in my assumption to just buy new ones....!

How many rods are there? I don't know if 73 is the same as 71, but I can measure them for you in order.

Very kind of you to do that!! There are 6 bows in total, so it must be an early '71. Thanks!!!
Ok my car only has 4 bows, but it has holes slotted into the roof structure for extra ones.... like your 71 has. I'll measure and post a picture of my 4 bows, and which slots they go into. The 2 extra on your 71 shouldn't be hard to figure out after that.

The smaller bows go in the front biggest to the rear nacho will probably have better or more info his dang smart but I believe there's only 3 different ones my 72's have 4 bows so I'm afraid I am not much more helpful

I wonder if I can find the clips that come with new ones for my old ones? Pics from CI seem to show clips.

I'd like to help but I can't recall... and my car is a thousands miles from home since 4 years. I hope the body man didn't remove them from the headliner.

When I removed mine the first time they were off the car for a year or so. never took note of how they should be there so I went instinctivelly on the reinstall job and made it with success.

as far I recall all 4 are diff ( being 74, is of course 4 bows ), two of them REALLY close one to the other

BTW as far the colors... didn't tell me nothing... all 4 bows were one color on one end and another color at the other end. I think beige and pink

Ok I'm back from measuring.

In summary,
Listed measurements for a 71 :
  • frontmost bow (#1) : 50.5"
  • bow #2 : 50.5"
  • bow #3 : in between 50.5" to 50.25" - if not either one.
  • bow #4 : 50.25"
  • bow #5 : probably between 50" to 50.25", based on a measurement based guess.
  • rearmost bow #6 : 55.75"
All my measurements were taken on unsprung rods, i.e. measured outside of the car.

4-bow cars are identical in roof structure, but they don't use rods #3 & #5.

Another thing to take note of, is that all 71-4 B's had two thin wire hooks clipped onto the rearmost bow, to keep things in-line.

All my pictures are on my phone, I'll post them from there in a few minutes.

there is 5 bows that are the same the long one is back one for your car

Drobertson, it would save my day if you had a chance to drop those pics of the orientation of the bows in regards to the holes..... I'm trying to save someone from losing out terribly on a project and it was given basically a shell....yhis headliner is the last thing on my list before I'm able to give it back to them...... Any help would be awesome

The bows go in according to height. not width. Shallow bow first and the deeper ones going back. The first 4 bows are the same. Then the 5th is a little deeper and the 6th is the deepest.

Any advice? My front and rear most bows are really tugging on each other. It’s a 4 bow headliner.
