I thinking about going to an electric fuel pump on my 62 Polara (383, dual 4's). Anyone have pictures of their set up.

Most just mount them at the rear frame. It's mostly the same setup on any car that changes to an electric pump. Then they have the more expensive setups that mount right in the tank.

Are you having problems with your mechanical pump?

Yes I am having the dry carb problem (heat soak) after it sets a while. Starts right up if you pour a little gas in the carb but you have to crank a while to get gas up to the carbs.

If the pump is external to the tank it should be mounted as close to the tank and lower than the tank for better operation as pumps are meant to push fuel.

Well done on finding my post with a pic of elec fuel pump mounting KK. Elec pump is great for quick start when car has sat and carbs are dry. 1/4" tank return line solved the vapor lock issues.

How did you enter the return line into the tank, by going through the sending unit plate? Another member had that question on here not too long ago.

Swampdog has a beautiful example of the optional 383 with two fours:thumbsup:

Yep. I considered soldering the return barb into sender unit but being stainless steel I instead made a bulkhead fitting from a hollowed M6 thread and nuts to which I soldered a 1/4" barb.

The Wix filter I used has a built in orifice in the 3rd nipple - so no extra orifice in the return line is required as I had once incorrectly stated.
