Ordered the H D Mancini Strut Rods

You can see the one in the picture ( Top) next to my factory strut rods

You can also see the factory strut rods have a dog leg bend in both rods , in the exact same location

K Frame has been powder coated and straight as an arrow perfect

Lower control arms , new bushings and straight as an arrow

Make a long story short

These Mancini Strut Rods will not fit , not even close

My factory strut rods are about 17.5" from shoulder to shoulder

Mancini is 18" - Obviously these Mancini Rods are sweet , but no way they will fit , even with no inside bushing let alone the Moog bushings or Energy suspension bushings that I have

What am I missing here ???

Here's some photos with the mancinis on, as you can see the geometry was way off. Mancini tech was absolutely no help they basically told me it should fit. Went with the adjustable qa1's and that solved the issue.

Return the asap, Mancini has a pretty strict return policy IIRC. The qa1 adjustables are a little more expensive but they have a very nice heim joint and do not require the use of bushings. I went through the same exact BS rebuilding my front end, got parts, don't fit, return and wait for new ones. sucks but it is what it is, here's a link to the adjustables.

Check the mount opening in the k frame to see if it's cupped. That occurs when the suspension is pushed back from a pothole or similar type road impact.

You straightened the strut rods?
 
The extent and rate of heat applied to the steel, as well as the cooling, May alter the physical properties of the metal. You might want to research that before you put them in your car.
 
Ya x2 on what wile said, you would hate to learn the hard way that the structural integrity was compromised on those rods, money isn't an issue here since you forked up the 120 for rods from Mancini already, Return them and you can get a set of adjustables from summit delivered to your house in 2 days for only a couple extra bucks, also our site vendor here PST makes adjustable rods and you get a 10% discount for being a forum member.

Just wanted to see how everything was going together with the new old k member that I picked up last month

I have new strut rods ordered

Just wanted to make sure everything went together fine and it's wasn't these Mancini Strut Rods

My car is down for a few more weeks anyways

Numbers matching Tranny rebuilt and installed

Working on front suspension after installing new old k frame that was sandblasted , factory skid plate , looks sweet compared to my factory unit

And of course , 383 magnum numbers matching block getting line bored , Mancini Racing 432 stroker kit getting installed along with Edelbrock heads

Car has been in pieces since May

Went to torque down the upper ball joints that are included in the new / reproduction upper control arms cheap on Ebay , because one was hand tight only , even bought the correct socket from Summitracing

Anyways

Drivers side upper control arm stripped , wouldn't even torque

Passenger side is fine

What next

Red Loctite ?
Quick weld in a few spots ?
Throw car in garbage ?
 
I've just had the same strut rods delivered for my 66 Satellite and like you I compared them to my original (and bent) strut rods and they are slightly longer. I sent a photo of the comparison to Mancini and the rep replied that they were fine, that is the design, they sell loads of them with no issues and they will work just fine. Hope there won't be an issue but am concerned as return shipping is costly from Australia. Surely they wouldn't be selling a product that's clearly wrong?

Same problem with Mancini rods here, they were way too long.
 
Glad they finally listened. I ended up getting mine turned down 32mm each I think by a local engineering firm. $20 a side. I knew Mancini were fobbing me off but I couldn't be bothered to argue. It's kinda satisfying fixing the issue yourself anyway.
