Front ISO biscuit replacement

I'd like to replace the front ISO biscuits on my 75 Fury, seeing as they look like they are oozing out of the frame
Just wondering if anyone has any tricks to doing this, as I really don't want to pull the engine to drop the k member to replace them.
I know firm feel has aluminum replacements. Anyone out there use them??
 
On my 73, I had the engine out, but didn't want to totally remove the K frame and LCAs.

Even loosening both bolts one one side until they almost fell out, and removing both bolts on the other side, there was not enough room to get the inner metal tubes out of the bushings. they were about 1/4" too long to clear.

I would have had to either cut them, or remove the other bolts and hope I was able to rock the K frame to clear the UCA brackets past the frame horns one at a time, possibly necessitating the removal of the LCAs.

I ended up just putting it back together.

Mine weren't really worn out, I just had poly bushings to put in.
 
I did this on my 79. Got polyurethane bushings thru Summit or Jegs. Did the torsion bar bushing mounts too. They come with new bolts. loosen the torsion bar adjusters completely. loosen the K frame bolts but do not remove, the K will hang down to remove the bushings.remove the bolt from the bushing 1 at a time. you will have to cut the inner sleve with a power hack saw to get it to clear the frame.with a bar and a bit of wiggle the old will come out.The new will have a inner sleve and 2 large washers.I lubed the poly bushing with water proof boat wheel bearing grease,just a thin coat.Some have said that if you don't they will squeak when the body flexes.
Some where on here I took photos of the removal and install but darn if I can find it.

Can this be done without pulling the motor?
 
Found it ! lookup prothane bushings for body and torsion bars in search

Yes it can be done !

That's how I did it on my 75RR
Just loose up the rear bolt just enough that the old old would drop off and after the new one are in place, just tighten the bolts a little bit
And do the same for the front

After all of them are replaced make sure to tighten/torque the 4 bolts to specs!!!


BUT!!! Use a transmission jack under the sub-frame if you use a hoist!!
OR!!! Use a floor jack under the sub-frame if you are doing it on jack stand/garage floor!!

I replaced my ‘79’s K frame iso bushings with the Hydurometer Chrysler bushings. AKA Cop Car suspension.

Just make sure the k frame area is t rusted out or you’ll need to do some small Minot welding to remake tha area where the gushing goes. It is not hard.
 
I’m getting ready to do the K frame bushings on my 77 Fury. I bought the Prothane kit. My car is on jack stands on all 4 corners as I’m doing other things to it. So questions.
1. do I need to loosen the torsion bars
2. do I do one side at a time or loosen all 4 K frame bolts at once
3. Can I do this while car is on jack stands all 4 corners
4. So after I remove the bolt I have to hack saw the old sleeve out so how does the new sleeve go in.
 
I'll give ya a bump bob, i'd like to know the answer also. haven't even had my B off the ground yet.lol

You can do one at a time.

No, you can do only two up front.

Sleeve should slide right in.

My answer was extremely point blank, blunt and simple.
Perhaps re worded....
I would just simply put jack stands under the front of the car. There is no need to have 4 jack stands under the car.

I’m not putting words in your mouth. If you had read my post correctly you would have read that I ALREADY have the car on jack stands as I’m doing other things to it. To help you understand what that means. I’m also doing rear end work & sheet metal work in the rear. That’s why I ASSUMED I had to put the rear of the car on the ground because I though you could read. I will no longer assume that you can. Thank you very much !

Not to mention your post is in the middle of jacking someone else’s thread.
But let’s carry-on pass that right now.

Good luck with the body work! One day I’d like to take a stab at that on a somewhat serious level. I have no work spot for that yet.
