1972 Plymouth Road Runner
BARN FIND SURVIVER. all original NO RESERVE
Item condition:
Used
“This is a completely original car.”

I am not bashing the car at all as it is a very high optioned desirable car in my opinion. However, it was not a barn find. He bought it from a guy near Houston, TX who had it on craigslist for at least 4 years praying for 17k. That guy told me he had it for several years and had always been garaged (selling due to do a divorce) so it was not found in a barn. I actually considered buying it before my brother sold me his but it needed a lot more than I was willing to give at that price. It does look pretty original minus the floor shifter and the black out treatment in the engine compartment which was another reason for my hesitation buying it. Something like that, I would most likely try and keep all original.

I guess barn find means more money.

Same goes for the term "Survivor"....

It is all for more $$$....Barnfind/survivor I do not care but what do care about is the quality of the car.

That being said the car in the ad appears to be complete and in very good shape....Then the buyer figures what they are willing to pay and try to leverage the seller from that point....

Finds......

it is the easy way to identifying a flipper.

All the barn finds I have ever found have had rusted through roof panels from chicken **** and mouse destroyed interiors. The barns in other parts of the country must be a lot nicer.

Don't forget "Rare" and "1 of #", those are the big tickets as well!

So this is a "Rare 1 of 200 "True" Barn Find Survivor"!...I like how he has to emphasize this with "True" Barn Find, like there are so many others that claim barn find, but no really his is a real barn find and he's not one of those nasty flippers.

Jack Wagon!

Agreed! I kind of feel bad for the guy that originally was trying to sell it. He couldn't take less than 17,000 himself. I really wanted that car myself but couldn't afford the initial price plus resto. I bet when he doesn't get his wanted price, he will end the bid and re set it up hoping to get more on the next go around.

Cool car!
Too bad he uses all the bullshit words in one sentence....
Barnfind-no
Survivor-no
All original-no
Rare-no

Makes me want to puke on myself when chevy and ford guys take a mopar and paint the engine compartment black rather than body color. Drives me nuts.

Justin,

Something I noticed when looking at the car is that it has the pentastar on the passenger fender. This may be one of those early 72 cars that got one? it also has rocker trim on it which I thought was a 71 only option too? Some items may have been added later though.

That's a sweet car little to pricey but I would drive it as it sits !

I just love these quotes as well. It seems that every add has the RARE in it, and SURVIVOR in their adds. The BARNFIND has come about in the last couple of years, and my thoughts true barn finds that I have come across is rust every where. Abodies seem to be the worst, at least here in the RustBelt Iowa. Heater corse seem to take care of the front floor pans, the road salt takes the lower fenders, subframes, ect. Haven't even gotten to the trunk floor.

But the question continues on barn finds, just how long has this car been sitting in the barn, after which it was pushed into the barn from under the good old Apple tree, or Tulip tree which leaks sap like you wouldn't believe. Just my thoughts.

Looking at the fender tag M codes, it is the same as my 72 roadrunner, and has the rocker moldings. Also coded for wheel lip and belt moldings.

"super rare '
only one built with 2 shifters and heater controls delete.
what a joke.
its getting worse every day.

That look B5 blue not Petty blue, maybe just the lighting.
My first car was a 72 340-4 speed Petty blue airgrabber with the hood/trunk stripes and no vinyl top. There was a Petty blue white canopy top white strobe auto and airgrabber and another basic no option but airgrabber Petty blue, both those in Fremont Oh. Hard to believe the Petty blue and air grabber was rare when within 5 mile was 3 of them. But that was in the 80's. My car had 14" ET mags, reverse offset in back with H50 Formula One Superstock tires, manual steering with a 10" chrome spoked steering wheel. Man I miss that car lol.

The picture of the VIN looks funny.

Its at $17.9k right now. My guess is somewhere in the low 20s. It needs a lot of work.
I think the pentastar on the lower fender ended by the end of 1971, so early 72s got them. Mine was a 11/71 build and it has it.
Looks like Petty blue to me too. If its been repainted I would hardly call it a "survivor"

"Barn Find" and "Survivor" are just 21st century replacements for "Only driven by an old lady to church on Sundays."
