need to paint my 70 non rallye dash, the orig had a slight texture. Who sells the correct paint? Thks

If its like my '71 Dash frame the paint is PPG "Suede". Cuda Cody would know. It has a very slight pebbled texture

If you have a quality paint store in your area, it can still be made up. But fewer and fewer stores have the supplies and knowledge to blend the paint. You can purchase the paint in pint quantities from Instrument Specialties out of Rhode Island. The PPG suede lacquer will cost you $99.00 in black and limited colors are available for an additional amount. They can custom blend colors, but it may require sending them an item like a glove box to get the color correct. Expect to pay considerably more for this service, but the results will be well worth the expense if your looking for correctness.

PPG DX 1999 textured additive was an option at one time, but I don't know if it's still available.

Textured powder coating works well in black. The dash i just finished up was powder coating in a funky blue (for the texture) and topcoated with an Axalta interior paint.

I was thrilled with the Duracryl Lacquer was available from Instrument Specialties. If you have a painter that still knows how to spray acrylic lacquer, then its a great way to go. I did my dash and steering column in this original paint and my body shop painter was able to get it to dry with that original texture. Lacquer is temperature and humidity sensitive so I can dry to quickly and become whats called "hairy", meaning it will have a real rough texture like 40 grit sand paper, but if it dries properly you get the fine texture. Plus that paint has tiny silver flake in it which gives it a nice glow. Here is a picture of the center of my dash, in the sunlight so you can see both.

That looks nice, has anyone used herbs spray cans? I don't have a paint gun, guess I might have to buy one...how far will a pint go? Think I can get one int and one dash? My 68 has a black gut my 70 is white but the dash and col are black

One was enough to do my dash and column plus glove box and ash tray doors and speaker cover on top of the dash, with just a little bit left over.

I used Herb's dark green interior rattle cans for my 68, (yeah I know who keeps the funky green right!) anyway it worked pretty well..it hasn't scratched off or flaked off (prep prep prep!)and it was the closest color match out of anything else... I used it on my original kick panels, my original pillar moldings, and had to paint the new dash pad I installed because it was a noticeably different shade..
