Hey guys..

Taking a stab here trying to locate dad's '68 Roadrunner. I am looking for VIN or any information on the car.

Here is what I have about it:

-It was last seen in Jamestown California in 1987.
-Was plated in California with the plate number: VNC869
-Confirmed to have had a fiberglass A12 lift off hood and six pack set up.
-Confirmed to have had a billboard style advertisement on the quarters for "Pony Express Racing Company" (see 3rd pic)
-Color appears to be Vitamin C Orange but I know that is not a factory '68 color.. unsure of or when it was a repainted.

Pictures are of the car when bought and the work my dad put into it. Unsure when they were taken.. guess is 70's to 80's. I am still pressing my dad for any other information he can recall to help track this car down as well.

Jamestown is 2 hours southeast of me. Although it could be anywhere theses days and gone through several iterations, I'll keep an eye out for it. If you can find VIN info, that would be very helpful.

I am currently trying everything I can to get VIN info.. but so far all I have is a plate... I appreciate any help from that area.

UPDATE BUMP

Seems I am unable to update the original post..

New information: Sold to a William or Bill Atkins in Jamestown, CA.

He was a local Martial Arts instructor. Possibly still has the car today sitting around his house. Was a friend of my dad's and told him he'd never sell it (but that was then).

as to your request

I never heard of or met the guy or even know of his business
I never seen the car, in question
& there's not many MoPars up here
not any other RR's that I know of right now
none that I've seen anyway...
there very well could be, stuff in a field or corner somewhere

But;
I don't know everyone up here either,
it's a big huge county, really sparsely populated & really spread out
also I rarely go down to Jamestown

only other guy I met up here with a 68 RR
(with a 426 hemi installed)
has moved to Texas

I know it ain't my car, I know the org. owners family
license plate, vin & it's real history, I'm the 3rd owner
& it's org. 1st owner is from Rio Linda/Sacramento area
it's not from up here, I brought it up here in 2007

but is similar in styling
with out the 70's shackles & hijackers or 440-6bbl

I put the A12 lift off hood on it & the (lowdeck 383/479cid) 6bbl in 2005,
off my other car, I bought it myself, none of it, came with the car
the car was almost 100 stock, was road hard & put away wet, it's whole life
it was owned by a former retired carpenter, when I got it
Road Wheels & all, 67k miles or a really hard life
LL1 Surf Turquoise Metallic, covered in shitty primer
crease down the the DS, with an all black decore interior, auto

good luck
with the quest for your dads car
I'll keep an eye out & ears open

sorry I can't help

You should have titled the thread Looking for milf..... Mopar I'd like to find! I have been looking for my dad's 68 Dart for years! Good luck hunting!

There is a possibility that car was factory orange. There was apparently a short run of “springtime” colors. I used to have a 68 Barracuda that was factory orange with the special order 999 paint code. Good luck on the hunt
Travis..

Budnicks, Thanks for the info and for keeping an eye out. :thankyou:

Travis.. The car was to my knowledge factory orange with the 999 paint code. The car also to my knowledge was confirmed to still have the billboard signing my dad put on the quarters for "Pony Express Racing Company" (see 3rd pic).

Hammond.. I saw that! This is definitely on Mopar I'd like to find...

I am still trying to hunt down Bill or William Atkins and I am also pushing my father for more information or for him to reach out to his old friend as well.

Thanks everyone..
