Firm feel or Borgeson

Have to change the ps steering box on my 1972 Sattelite. Too much play in it, by the worm shaft. Which one is the best, Firm feel or Borgeson? Steering fell, quality etc ?
 
I went with borgson for lighter weight & more clearance.
 
I went with Borgeson. It is much better than the original box ratio wise and lighter but I havent put any miles on it so cant give an accurate performance assessment yet. I can say the Borgeson will be a much more involved swap and figure about 800 bucks by the time you factor in the hose and column adapters. The firmfeel is a direct replacement and maybe not quite as tight as the Borgeson but still a major improvement over the stock steering.
 
I went with the Borgenson, cause I am going to put lipstick on a pig, it better be the prettiest color!
 
I had a stage 2 from Firm Feel, now have a Borgeson which I like more. Better road feel, smaller and lighter.

Also a better turning ratio.

Borgeson is smaller, but shaped differently. It got in the way of my 6.4 swaps. Headers were the issue.
 
I have stage 3 Firm Feel. I would likely go with the Stage 2 if I did it again. It is not a single hand palming of the wheel in a parking lot with stage 3 but it is very nice at speed.
 
Starting from scratch, the difference is that Borgeson is a better unit but costs about double. Th Firm Feel guys have taken the 1957 era Chrysler steering unit as far as it can go. I have Firm Feel stage 3 with Fast Ratio arms for a 12.7 steering ratio. The Borgeson is a 14 to 1. Mine steers like a manual steering car but still has a bit of slop on center. I have not rebuilt the coupler but I suspect even in a perfect world, the Chrysler unit still has some play to it.

I considered fast ratio arms but would've needed to swap headers, wasn't about to deal with that headache and cost. Especially since I had them re-coated less than two years ago and they still work and look good. Rebuilt stock unit just had more play than I'd like. I'm a lot more happy with the Borgeson and a smaller steering wheel. That in addition to upgrading the stock setup my car feels and drives great.

That's going from a stage 2 FF w/ stock 16" wheel to a Borgeson w/ 13.75" wheel this past month. Great upgrade for me.
 
The TTI headers that I have state that they do NOT clear the Fast Ratio arms. They lied. Mine clear easily.
 
I've seen some stories with the Borgeson sitting on a bit of an angle. Seems to be a non issue?

Cost wise is pretty close when you factor a core charge on the Firm Feel. Not sure it's worth it to ship a heavy cast iron box from Canada to the U.S just for core. Plus I'm going from manual to power.
 
The cost is close? Holy crap....what are they charging for cores??? The rebuild is about $400, right? The Borgeson setup with the hoses and coupler is around $900 from what I recall.

My Hookers had to be altered to clear the stock arms, fast ratio are longer so it was a no go for me.

That is the answer i was looking for. 1957 versus 2000 technologies. Thanks all for your answer.
 
$379 for a stage 2 box plus a $200 core charge. Shipping the core back being a heavy pig has got to be at least $100 from Washington to me if not more. I sent a leather jacket to California and it was $80 bigger box but not near the weight.

The complete kit with hoses coupler etc from Bergman Auto craft is $836

So really $156 bucks difference not so bad
 
Last night I took my car on the freeway for the first time since my upgrades and it handled great. On the 118 west to 405 south interchange (two lane elevated bridge that goes over the 405 and enters 6 lanes wide) doing 85ish. I could smell something burning. Exited the first exit and realized (later) my reservoir blew it's top as steering was clearly different.

Managed to get home ok as it wasn't to difficult compared to my stock rebuilt unit which blew some hoses and was a pain in the *** (with the stock steering wheel) to get home.

Cleaned up everything this morning and it clearly wasn't the new hoses on the Borgeson so the mess wasn't nearly as bad as before. At the same time cleaned up the rear as well.

Anyone else experience this? Solution?
