1966 coronet 440 383 4spd/ rebuilt is a dog need suggestions

i was in panic mode before this thread. i realize just need to slow down and be practical.

the distributor tags gone so not sure if it's smog yrs. but wouldn't mind some easy adjustability. cheaper then MSD is the flame thrower lll.

the tanks original looks ok lines also but ill check them out and replace if necessary maybe better fuel filter.
thx

Sorry for the info overload, could not sleep this morning.
If you suspect fuel tank/line issues just run some rubber fuel line from the pump inlet to a small fuel can to see if it helps. I think I had rust scale in my lines, and it was partly blocking fuel flow.

Welcome from Canada, extreme energy series camshafts seem to work well in b r/b engines . the 268 h10 grind might work well for you. 268/280,.477"/.480"on 110 lobe center

Agree with all who said check the simple and easy things first.

Make sure everything is clean and adjusted properly.

All of the Eddy carbs I've bought for $60 at swap meets ran just fine with no tinkering.

...but they're super easy to check and clean. having one or two jet/rod sizes off shouldn't make your car a fall on it's face dog. having a plugged or incorrectly adjusted accelerator pump will, though.

Having the stock advance springs won't make it a dog either. Messing with those is something to do after it's running right.

Double check the firing order, make sure all the plugs are firing, look at the burn pattern. Make sure the float level is correct, and that gas is squirting from all the proper places at the proper times. make sure the timing is correct and that it advances (and comes back) correctly. Buy a cheap vacuum gauge and see where it is at idle and at cruise. make sure yo don't have any leaks.

If you had the cam installed by some one else, verify if the degreed it properly or not.

ok cleaned the rust dust out hard to see in the pics but it was pretty bad. I'll get a better fuel filter for now.
set the floats 7/16th they where set too low. i order calibration kit and rebuild kit. hopefully I need to check vacuum agian last when tuning it was less than 10mmHG
chipping away

did you take off the triangular accelerator pump nozzle assembly and make sure carb cleaner comes out both sides when sprayed through the inlet?

no but once i had fuel back in it i watched the accelerator nozzle looked good. i think i have a manifold vacuum leak. in a copy of spots around the manifold looks like some blow outs. when sprayed with carb cleaner i dont get difference. on the rebuild i used the old valley pan the new one didn't seem right but I'm going to replace check for leaks and move on to header dome leak both sides

To help find vacuum leaks use a unlit propane torch and while the motor is running, direct the propane gas towards carb base and intake runners. If idle smooths out you found your leak, cheaper and cleaner than using carb spray
