F gov't subsidization of private industry, then it's no longer private sector, not capitalism, but fascism.
Still to date, the only one to actually pay back the taxpayers for a bail out, well before the term limit of the LOAN, was Lee Iacocca while saving Chrysler. But remember that at that time, the gov't's argument for NOT granting the LOAN was they would set a bad precedent for gov't becoming involved in the private sector. Once they become involved, then it's no longer PRIVATE sector, deviating from CAPITALISM.
That said, I think Iaccoca's paying back the loan way early was stellar, & that He turned the company back into the black.
It's it's very disturbing that GM had a recent record profit quarter, fattening the **** out of ceo & executives & they haven't paid back a dime of bailout & no indication of gov't holding them accountable.

Tesla is reportedly burning thru $1.5 b a month in cash. They also just built a massive lithium battery project in Australia for which they were paid a $50m bonus for completing the project in 100 days. If they hadn’t completed it on time they would have had to pay the aussies the $50m. They’re currently building a car tunnel under LA that goes from somewhere to LAX. This can’t seem to focus on one thing at a time. Must have ADD.

Getting "help" from the gubmint is one thing. Welding training wheels on for long term support is quite another.
I can sympathize with a person being on Welfare assistance while they sort a few things out, but get up off of your *** and make something of yourself. Same applies to companies "Too big to fail".

If you had a brilliant idea to reduce dependance on foreign supplied fossil fuels, not only would you be beating a path to the government doors, they'd be opening them for you and writing checks.
Don't need foreign fossil fuel. We got shitloads here. Must be dark in the basement.

Anyone recall the 'deal' that Goberment Motors offered the union way back? IIRC, it was 35 or so years ago. Even the union couldn't believe it but being greedy, they accepted it. The deal was concocted to force Ford and Chrysler to do the same for their union members while GM knew that ChryCo really couldn't do it and it would put the hurts on Ford but like so many others, they followed suit. Heck, even Exxon does that. They always waited until all the other oil/chem companies signed before offering to it's members. Anyways, the GM package that was so good that it had failure written all over it but it would take 30+ years for it to finally fail and it did. I used to read up on stuff like this and at one time, it was available on the web but haven't been able to find it for the last several years. I even posted it on several sites but no one paid much attention to it....

Electric/hybrids are a complete BUST, a half assed excuse these fuckers are riding the coattails of. The pollution from mfging & disposal of the bah-batteries over time is going to produce a more severe threat than the fossil fuels. Honda produced an absolute zero emission combustion engine years ago,,,,,why is this not exploited,,,,,why not exploit CNG?? Reasonable alternatives that don't necessitate overwhelming changes in infra structure that deplete public coffers,,,,,ie, NOT enough money to be extracted by the Political garbage!!

That’s not the new “American way.” We are an adhd society that needs constant stimulation and new toys.
Tesla is only copying others also.
And it is NOT our government's business to bail out anyone for any reason.
They need to protect our borders, COIN (NOT PRINT) money & BUTT OUT!
J P Morgan bailed out the US Government. Not the other way around. Yes I'm watching the History channel. Stanford, Morgan, Westinghouse, Tesla, Carnegie, Ford, Dodge. These are the names that built what we know now. Innovation and vision. Righteous Might. Not government bail outs. Like Solyndra bailed by us taxpayers at the behest of the big eared moron previously in the Whitehouse.
