I'm in the build up stage of a resto mod on a 71 Satellite.

I'm using a 5.7 hemi from an 04 Ram 1500.

For whatever strange reason finding bolts for the alternator and the compressor is proving to be much harder than I would have ever imagined. Haven't even tried for the power steering pump yet. I went to the dealer and ordered new ones for the alternator, they came in and weren't the correct bolts. I was told they were the only bolts listed for that truck. Tried a couple of salvage yards but the second you say hemi they just shake their head. Guess they don't keep them around long.

I'm hoping someone on here might have a line on the bolts I need or part numbers? Out of everything I've done and am doing to this car I really didn't expect this to be an issue. Any help and/or info would be much appreciated.

Thanks

TSC (Tractor Supply) handles grade 8 bolts of all sizes. They have gold anodized or natural and are sold by the pound.

I found the same two problem bolts in a bucket of spare bolts at the engine re-builders shop. I am not even sure that they are off of a Hemi. I would head back to a salvage yard with the two components and hit the motor core pile.

Car stuff is famous for being oddly sized- like 2 1/4", or 4 3/4" long etc.

Most hardware stores have sizes on the inch and 1/2 inch length only after 2 inches.

Ace typically has a more thorough selection, but still may not have what you need.

The cataloging at dealers can be a hit and miss. When I worked there, I would find that sometimes you had to move up or down in years to find a listing for something. Mopar would show "not serviced" on some stuff or just not show it. When I had to order o-rings for a/c lines on Vipers, nothing was listed. Pretty much had to call specifying, their answer line for the dealer parts, to get the numbers. Your dealer needs to try that avenue too along with trying other years/listings.

So here are a couple of options here in North Texas. Also if you are looking for Hemi,s at the junkyard go to car-part.com and search first. I am sure there are plenty to be found in Grand Prairie off of Jefferson. You can try these guys they specialize in Jeep and Dodge trucks. I was out there a few weeks back and they had several V8 Jeeps and trucks at the time.
